Heavenly Father, We pray that all World Cup security officials would be sharp, alert, and operating with angelic assistance at all times, in the mighty name of Jesus. We pray for mercy to be shown to the players and fans. Also, that the prayers would turn to you in repentance and humility, abstaining from behavior that offends you, and giving you glory in their words and deeds. Illuminate the awareness, courage, and discernment of each person in the building—using even the most average person to help expose and foil any destructive plot if necessary. May the followers of Christ who attend or watch from home not allow their hearts to be lifted up in idolatry, carried away by the spectacle and forgetting to be on their spiritual posts. And forgive us if we have in any way slipped into this error already, either regarding soccer or any other sport.
