Working Holiday Watch
It’s Family Day in Canada but I told my manager I’ll come in to complete my Training regimen. I’m wearing a Citizen Eco-Drive today- a nice gift from my wife.

The Astronaut
This Sunday I’m wearing one of my older watches at home. I’ve always liked champagne dials, and when this rather unique mechanical wind specimen was offered to me I snapped it up. The brand is Astronaut, it’s 23 Jewels and Swiss made. 36 mm diameter and 10 mm thick with 16 mm lugs. I can’t find any details at all about the watch; I wonder if any of you can shed light on this brand. I’d appreciate it!

@Tom Hurley I really don’t know. It’s from the ‘80’s at least as far as I was told.
Citizen Godzilla Singular Point
I wore this watch yesterday but didn’t find the time to load it. In 2021 Toho and Citizen Watch collaborated to produce a dive watch designed after a new animated mini-series called ‘Godzilla- Singular Point’. The run was limited to 500 pieces, of which there were only about 50 of the red version, IIRC. being a true Gojira fan (see other memorabilia), I had to get one. It took a few years but last year I finally got it.

@Tom Hurley yes Citizen has a ‘unique’ design that distinguishes them from other dive style watches.
Movie Prop Watches
I watched the movie Tenet this weekend and I went down the rabbit hole of the watch that was used at the end of the movie to keep time of an "event" (no spoiler if you haven't seen it). I thought they were pretty cool looking with the timer in the middle, making it hard to miss the required info. Here's an article from Hodinkee on the watches that were used but were never more than a prop. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/tenet-film-prop-watches-hands-on Hamilton did release a limited run watch that is similar to the prop watches but it didn't have the central digital timer like the movie watch. 😪 Are there any watches that you have seen in movies or on TV that you wish were real? If so, explain why and include an image.

Rod Serling of 'Twilight Zone' fame also sported a Ventura. Being a fan of movie watches myself, I've owned a few of them, as seen in some of my posts. I've also previously owned a Seiko 'Willard' from 'Apocalypse Now', the eponymous Hamilton 'Ventura' and even Tom Hanks' 'Mickey Mouse' watch from 'Da Vinci Code'.

I bought these watches at Aliexpress out of curiosity to see how a $3.76 wrist watch & a $0.01 pocket watch would fair. As expected, the wrist watch turned out to be an inferior one. The supposed mesh strap isn't flexible enough to fit my wrist & it looks like the material used was that of a tin can. The pocket watch is okay for the price. Fortunately, both watches are working as they came with batteries. At least I was able to satisfy my curiosity.

I hope the watches last long enough to make it worth the cost (including shipping). Good luck!
