Discussion Post Six - Basic Doctrine 101
How might our identity as created beings change the way we approach decisions, relationships, or challenges?
1 like • Oct '25
By grounding ourselves in the truth that we are made in the image of God, created by Him with purpose and his values. This identity means we are accountable not to ourselves alone, but to the Creator whose character and design define us. Recognizing that we are not the ultimate authority encourages humility and reliance on God's wisdom in decision-making. It also calls us to value others as perfect images of God, fostering respect and love in relationships made amongst each other.

How does the biblical description of demonic activity (for example: deception, binding, possession) differ from cultural portrayals of demons in media and popular culture?
0 likes • Oct '25
The biblical description of demonic activity significantly differs from cultural portrayals commonly seen in media and popular culture. Biblically, demons are fallen angels actively opposing God's purposes, engaging in deception, temptation, oppression, and possession, but always under God’s sovereign control. Scripture emphasizes their goal to entice sin or deceive through subtle and direct attacks like possession or testing, often countered by prayer, obedience to Scripture, and spiritual warfare (Eph. 6:10-20, Matt. 4:1-11). The Bible presents demonic activity as part of a spiritual warfare framework with hope and victory through Christ, rather than the overwhelmingly evil, invincible forces often shown in popular culture.

Which symbol of the Holy Spirit is most relatable to your own personal experience of the Holy Spirit? How has your experience of the Holy Spirit been important to your walk with God? How do you want the Holy Spirit to impact your life moving forward?
0 likes • Oct '25
The symbol of the Holy Spirit that feels most relatable to my personal experience is the gentle dove, representing peace. In my walk with God, the Holy Spirit has been a quiet, comforting presence that brings clarity and reassurance, especially during times of uncertainty or struggle. This gentle presence has helped me grow in faith and grace, leading me toward understanding and healing. Moving forward, I desire the Holy Spirit to continue to impact my life by deepening my sensitivity to His guidance, empowering me to live with greater love and patience in all circumstances.

What characteristic of God do you need to pull from in this season of life?
0 likes • Oct '25
In this season of life, the characteristic of God I need to pull from most is His patience. Honestly, I feel that life is constantly moving with or without me, and that can come with challenges and moments where I feel the weakest. But as I reflect on God's patience, it reminds me that my burdens are used to help shape me into the person that God wants me to become.

What part of class impacted or challenged you? How do you plan on applying it to your life?

Understanding how carefully the Scriptures have been transmitted, preserved, and protected through centuries challenged me to appreciate the reliability and authority of God's Word more sincerely. It was eye-opening to see the lengths to which scholars, scribes, and believers have gone to ensure the Bible remains trustworthy and unchanged.
