Dovetails my nemesis. I've done them with a router and a jig but cutting by hand is a whole new game. Close but no cigar!

If it feels sketchy don't do it!

Share the tool that gives you the most trouble — and why — in the comments below! 🏆 Prize: $100 Sawinery Gift Card (aka guilt-free tool money 😏) 📅 Winner announced on September 22!

Easy answer for me my router! I do ok on the router table but I struggle with the hand held.
Ouch
Some days it's better to just leave the shop and have a cocktail. Today is one of those.

Fixed it fortunately it was a shallow cut took about an eighth off and sanded it up. Used my cnc like a router sled just sat there with the control pad and cut it down in 4 passes. Good thing I try to start the boards at 1 3/4" thickness leaves me room for days like that.
Inspiration
Hey everyone! My name is Trevor Short. I am excited to join this community and wanted to share my inspiration. I am still very new to woodworking but not new to working with my hands. I have been working with Leather the last three years and I been wanting to do projects with wood and leather. Some big inspiration I’ve grown up with is music and machines. I have been playing guitar for over 20 years now and I have been a machinist for about 8 years now. At home I have a shop with a laser, a lathe and plan to get a CNC machine soon. My goal is to start making guitars and apply all the materials and skill I’ve learned to make masterpieces. However I’m still learning. I really look forward to getting some feedback on my project to better myself. Attached is a cribbage board I made for my Pop’s for Father’s Day and I can’t help but think how cool it would be if it was made with hardwood. I will probably make something similar in the future. Look forward to chatting with everyone. Thanks

I would look at altmill or Shapeoko. I have an older Shapeoko 3xxl I bought used and it has been great to learn on. I really like the altmill and was convinced that was the one to get when ready to upgrade but my experience with Shapeoko has been amazing. Their customer support is like no other company I've dealt with. Remember I bought it used and they treat me like I'm the number one customer. Seriously. I had some issues along the way with setup and maintenance. And sent emails requesting information usually on weekends when I have the chance to play in the shop. I kid you not I get responses back within hours. They have even called and walk me through some steps on a Sunday evening. That kind of support makes it really hard to not be a customer. The whole package Shapeoko does from the machine to software and support takes a pretty complex operation and makes it fun and pretty easy to learn. I have heard good things about Altmill as well so you probably won't go wrong with either.
