Welcome Newcomer!
Welcome to The Village of Medieval STUFF. If you're looking to start a new trade, you'll want to check out The Village Market (Classroom). It's a fairly new settlement, so naturally we're still working on building the essentials. Soon enough we'll have the Tavern (calendar) built, where you'll be able to attend some Village Functions and meet the rest of the folk (members). Until then, feel free to introduce yourself around, tell us a bit about your skills and interests and someone will be able to lead you in the right direction. ... and make sure to wipe your shoes (if you have them). The pigs don't have a sty yet, and they've been leaving "presents" all over ..... 🐷

Well met @Agnes Ryckman and welcome to the Medieval STUFF village. We're so happy you found your way here! As you can see, we're still building. Please find your way to the TAVERN and introduce yourself. Tell us a little about the trades your are skilled at so we can find you proper lodgings. Otherwise, make yourself at home!

Stinging Nettle Textiles Did you know that pre-historic and medieval peoples actually wore Stinging Nettle? OUCH!!! Stinging Nettle is a BAST FIBER, much like LINEN from FLAX. Once you get past the stingers, the final product is much the same. The processing method is also similar to linen. The only difference being linen fibers come from inside the flax stalk, while nettle fibers are in the grasslike skin on the outside of the stalk. There is still more to add to this course, but it's started. I'll also be adding some videos so you can see the process better.

@Donna Conrad it does yes, I’ve heard there’s a few things you can do with nettles, I’ve not tried any of them, but I’d never heard of turning it into cloth, can’t imagine it would be comfortable

@Donna Conrad I'll be interested to see how it goes

Well met @Caroline Fransz . I hope your journey here was uneventful. As you can see, we're still a bit bare bones. Rome wasn't built in a day. 😁 Please feel free to introduce yourself on the pinned Welcome post, and tell us about what type of trade you're in, so we can find you proper lodgings. Oh, and watch out for the pigs....
