Faith to See It, Courage to Build It!
That was the theme of yesterday's Economic Empowerment and Innovation Conference at my church (KFAME in Calverton, MD). While I couldn't possibly document every single breakthrough from today, I wanted to stop by and drop some major gems that shook me up in the best way possible: - đ On Financial Awareness: "The first time we were slaves, they dragged us across the middle passage. This time we signed up for it [credit cards] and celebrate it... the difference between us and Grandma is we spend it before we earn it." â Dr. DeForest Soaries - - đ On Strategy & Reality: "Action follows decisions, but so does disruption. We always plan for the action, but rarely for the disruption." â Daryle L. Johnson ("The Idea Guy") - - đ On Authority & Impact: "A Point of View (POV) without results is an opinion. A POV with results is your legacy." â Orlando Ashford - - đ On Authenticity: "Stop being a lesser version of someone else and be a fuller version of yourself." â Orlando Ashford - (Note: These are attributed to the speakers at the conference, though the original philosophical sources may vary!) My Next Reads I also walked away with a few book recommendations that Iâm adding to my reading list immediately. If you're looking to scale your business or mindset, you might want to check these out too: 1. đTraction by Gino Wickman â A deep dive into the Entrepreneurial Operating SystemÂŽ (EOS), offering a practical method for running a business with clarity and control. đHow to Get Rich Without Going Spiritually Broke by Cassandra Lewis and Fania Denton â A biblical roadmap for navigating wealth, featuring interviews with Christian millionaires who have successfully aligned prosperity with faith. 1. đHow Did You Get That Job? by Orlando Ashford â A masterclass on building a successful career and personal brand by delivering results, taking calculated risks, and cultivating community. 1. 2. Turning Reflection into Action 3. I'm still digesting everything from yesterday, but what is crystal clear is learning something new daily is a practice I am deeply committing to. Iâd love to hear your thoughts: 4. 5. â Did any of these quotes or books resonate with your current season? 6. â What are you committed to doing for your personal and professional development this week, this month, or this year?
