Design Thinking vs Workshops
Hi all! I've already found so much helpful content in this community, so I thought I'd come to you with something I've been struggling with. I started my career at IBM where I was first introduced to Design Thinking. I got a couple of certifications and facilitated a few workshops and found it very valuable. However, over the last couple of years I started breaking away from traditional Design Thinking workshops and designing/facilitating different flavors of workshops. Sometimes those workshops used activities commonly associated with Design Thinking (like empathy maps), but other times the workshops were totally different from what I would define as traditional Design Thinking (like LDJs). I've recently started my own small business with a partner focusing on workshop design and facilitation. A lot of our clients want to put us in the Design Thinking box, but we want to convey that workshops can be so much more than that. Have you all experienced workshops always being conflated with Design Thinking, and if so how do you explain the connections but also the differences?

What are your top tips for setting yourself up as a freelance workshopper?
One of the great things about what we do is you can do it as an employee or go out and become your own company. Whilst the later comes with amazing benefits there are a lot of areas that need to be considers… Like - What does it take to set myself up as a business or do I just contract in. - If I am setting myself up as a business am I a sole trader.. registering by business - Defining your purpose and setting clear goals yearly, quarterly - Defining your target customers, products, services and financials. Whilst this is a passion space for a lot of us, you still need to understand your revenue needs. - Branding and marketing - What do you need to set yourself up… physically, technology - Contracts for engagements - How to build a pipeline, managing you customer base Making sure you get work life balance! Would be interested in hearing and learning from each other on what made sense for you and what you would like to share with the rest of the community…

📍Where is everyone from?📍
Hello Facilitators👋 I'm really curious about where everyone is from. I'd love to make this a mega post where we can see how diverse the Facilitator Club community is. Who knows, you might find a lot more people in your area than you thought! Once I have lots of answers on this post, I want to make a nice graph!

How to do 1 hour project lessons learned session - sharing
Speed Session: Unlocking the Power of Project Lessons in 1 HourYou have 1 hour of time with your team to create project lessons learned. So much work together and now you need to think back, reflect and learn about it. How do you do this? Here is a simple working session setup that will help you achieve this in 1 hour time (feel free to adapt it, take more time, and so on - I had only 1 hour so I thought to share with you what I did): 🎲 Check-in: White 3 words that come to your mind about our project 🎲 Wind & Sun: Share:how the wind helped us forwardhow the sun made us feel good 🎲Hold us back: Share what was holding us back on the way 🎲 Use the Learning Card from Strategyzer and share observations, learnings, and decisions. I love this card because it is helping people to think deeply about their journey lessons and bring it as well to tangible decisions and action steps. 🎲 Personal action points: What will I do out of these learnings? We want that every person from this team has a personal action point out of this learning session, in order for them to commit on their personal takeaway. If you want to check out the Learning Card from Strategyzer, here is the link where you can download it from: https://www.strategyzer.com/resources/canvas-tools-guides/the-learning-card One of the other cards I am using very often from Strategyzer is the Test Card, for which I wrote an entire article and a real use case here: https://teamflow.substack.com/p/7-steps-to-turn-ideas-into-reality I wanted to share my way of handling this session and I am here in case you have questions.

Thanks for sharing! How exactly are you using the Strategyzer card in the workshop? Are you showing it on your screen and having participants write their thoughts separately and then share them out with others?
