Day #10 of the 30 Day Challenge → Militado Field Watch
Happy Field Watch Friday! A dreary day this morning, so going with my Militado ML05 38mm VH31 Quartz Field Watch with its happy orange, sunburst dial to brighten things up a bit. I do not have a "plan" guiding my collection. I merely pick up things I like along the way. But for some reason, I seem to have kept all of my field watches to either traditional black or cream-colored dials, with one white. I went in search of a second white, the white dial Militado that I love, and came across this one along the way -- with this amazingly beautiful orange sunburst dial. With "orange" being my favorite color, clouds suddenly parted, the heavens opened in a radiant glow, a gentle warmth settled over me, angels sang, and one for perfect moment everything felt right. Then my head was immediately filled with flashbacks of favorite sunburst guitars over the years! Without thinking, my hand instantly hit the "Buy It Now!" button. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Best wishes for a Fantastic Field Watch Friday! 😀

Day #8 of 30 Day Challenge
White Dial Wednesday with a $259 Watch Gang win: Torino Carrero Winner Circle Chronograph (Model: CISBK101LGY), a men's timepiece characterized by its sporty, dress-casual design. Key Specifications - Movement: Powered by a Swiss Ronda 3540.D quartz chronograph movement. - Case & Bracelet: Features a 45mm stainless steel case (316L grade) and a matching silver-tone stainless steel bracelet with a fold-over safety deployment clasp. - Dial Details: It has a light grey matte dial with three sub-dials (60-second, 30-minute, and 1/10th of a second), a date window at the 3 o'clock position, and luminous hands and index markers. - Bezel: Equipped with a stationary black and silver-tone aluminum bezel that includes a tachymeter scale. - Durability: The watch utilizes a curved mineral crystal and offers water resistance up to 10 ATM (100 meters). I get a kick out of the date window. It's like the watch is smiling at me when I look at it. The caseback is pretty cool as well. Totally having F1 withdrawals with this 5-week layoff between races, but this is a nice pick me up. The Story: When my brother and I moved my 87-year old Mom into Memory Care that was a hit to the ol' positive attitude meter as I'm sure you all can imagine. I've been a longtime Watch Gang fan (many of my early initial acquisitions came through this group). "Box of chocolates" and all that. So, Mom was feeling very cheery that day, but wanted to thank the moving men (my brother and I) for helping her so she "tipped" us. 🤣 Not wanting to cause an anxiety moment with her, we thanked her. That night, I spun the wheel and landed on the Torino Carrera with its beautiful smile, just like Mom's. $259 to catch a $2400 memory https://torinocarrero.com/products/cisbk101lgy *doesn't work all the time🙃 Have a great Hump day

Day #9 of 30-Day Challenge
Throwback Thursday with my Dad's Timex from the 70's which I call "Lazarus". We found it last fall while moving Mom into an independent living facility. The twist-o/flex/stretch bracelet was broken and the watch needed some love. Taking a referral from the Strap Professor @David Denham Jr to add a NATO, then replacing the battery, it fired right up. It's got a nice scar on its face (wish I knew that story). The day/date isn't yet cooperating. My Dad was Director of QC for an Iron Foundry which made castings for the Big Three U.S. automakers from 1960-1995. From when I was in high school til his retirement, I can't remember him wearing another watch. "Takes a licking and keeps on ticking" wasn't just a slogan for him. He passed away in 2012 from mesothelioma which he apparently contracted from exposure to asbestos while working for GM in the late 1940s-early 1950s when he had the job of "painting" the inside of their boiler stacks with asbestos (wearing t-shirts & jeans). They weren't provided any hasmet gear even though the medical dangers were known by companies prior to 1940 apparently. All 4 of his painting buddies have also passed away from the same disease. It's nice to have "Lazarus" with me at work knowing I may have a QC guy looking over my shoulder checking my work. Have a terrific Thursday.

Day #09 of the 30 Day Challenge → Timex “Snoopy Space!” Marlin
Happy Strap It On and Share Anything You Want Thursday! (I like that. It's kind of long, but maybe a new thing. 😂 Going with my Peanuts x Timex Snoopy Space Marlin Manual Wind watch in recognition and tribute to the Artemis II space flight and their projected return home tomorrow. This was an impulse buy when introduced last September. This 34mm (smallest piece I own) manual wind was accompanied by a larger 40mm automatic version in which the "Peanuts" characters Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty, and Franklin rotate around a stationary Lucy and Snoopy. I chose the manual version because I thought Snoopy rotating around a stationary Charlie Brown put the focus more on Snoopy, which is what the watch was all about for me. From what I can see, this manual version is no longer in production at this time, while the automatic is available for pre-order. Did I stumble onto a future Collector's Item? Time will tell. Anyway, that's the story behind my SNOOPY Peanuts Space Marlin. Hope you like it. 😀
