👀⏲️Live ABs & Scrimmages: See It Early, Be On Time⏲️👀
Don’t grade live at-bats by hits or misses. Grade them by this: - Did I see the ball early? - Was I on time? That’s the job of live reps. If you were on time and saw it well, it was a good at-bat. Even if you got out. If you were late, rushed, or guessing, it wasn’t. Even if you got a hit. Live at-bats are for vision and timing. Not swing fixes. Not results. Cage builds the swing. Live reps test your eyes and your clock. Judge the right things.

Put some guys through this Saturday with the good weather. Timing solved most of their “issues”!
🙏🗣️ I Need Your Help — This Goes Straight to Coaches 🗣️🙏
I was fortunate to be asked to speak at next years Oklahoma Softball Winter Clinic, and I want to represent what actually matters to hitters, coaches, and parents. I have no idea what area or topic I want to cover, so I'm asking ALL OF YOU to share a topic you'd be interested in hearing if you were sitting there and listening to me talk hitting. 👇 Drop your feedback in the comments: - What hitting topics do you want coaches to understand better? - What do coaches miss when teaching hitters? - What concepts finally “clicked” for you that more coaches should know? - What problems do you see over and over with hitters at practices or games? - Nothing is off-limits. Mechanics, mental game, development, youth vs HS vs college gaps, in-game adjustments, all of it. If you’ve ever said “I wish coaches would stop teaching this” or “I wish they’d emphasize this more” — this is the place to say it. @Jason Conley @Dean Wilson @Michael Patock @Jamie Crawford @Peter Attar @Jason Barger @Thurman Lynch @Suri Virasih

@Lane Adams right now for example last Saturday, I had 10 guys at 10AM. All HS age and every day starters for their school teams. At 12, I had 8 Freshman. So 18 guys in a 4 hour span. We do cover things other than hitting so the whole two hours isnt always swings. For our other teams, we teach the system then I have to "hope" it gets implemented well. Last Fall they did a great job at the younger levels. We start with a basic warm-up then with a Hip Mobility Routine. Then the Plyo Walls with a Med Ball Routine and individual Water Bag and PVC work. After that they go through the tee stations sometimes mixing in different drills but stick to the core package. Then in the cage we go through "Constraint" rounds. Every week we change the intent but never going in just to swing.

Be Resourceful with what you have! We dont have a huge facility or all the gear so we developed the framework now the location doesnt matter as much as the reps do. Even a popup net with a tee can accomplish the framework.
2029 Group Session Players
I’ve had a small group of raw freshman coming once a week. All have different things to work on but making progress and would love some input. Goal one with all them was balance. We’ve spent a few weeks with med balls, farm boards, and banded swings getting in the ground. Dylan- Lots of power but gets out on front side Brodie - very long kid with a long swing. Mason - Swings HARD! Natural recoil swing and very flat in the zone. Julius - Seems to drift forward without much load. Just looking to help these guys. Any input would be great!
✍️ Why Handwritten Notes Still Win (Especially for Players)
Research shows writing by hand creates stronger learning and recognition than typing on a keypad. Why? Because movement locks information into the brain. You’re not just recording, you’re processing. 📝 Past Performances - Write what actually happened, not excuses - Forces honesty and reflection - Patterns show up faster on paper ⚙️ Practice Notes - What worked - What didn’t - One cue to carry forwardWriting slows you down just enough to learn the rep. 🎯 Game Notes - Emotional state - Timing feels - What the game exposedHandwriting helps regulate emotion and sharpen awareness. ⚾ Pitcher Notes - Shapes - Sequences - Miss patterns - TendenciesWriting these by hand improves recall during the at-bat, not after the game. What about typed notes? Typed notes are better than nothing. They’re fine when: - You’re short on time - You need organization - You’re collecting info But typed notes are passive. Handwritten notes are active. The simple rule - Want it to stick? Write it. - Want it fast? Type it. - Want the edge? Write first, type later. Precision over convenience. Pick up the pen.

A dull pencil is better than a sharp mind!!!
❓ TRIBE QUESTION OF THE DAY ❓
That go-to drill you trust when your swing feels off… The one that always gets you locked back in…The one you’d teach your younger self first. Drop it below 👇 Name the drill + why it works for YOU. Bonus points if you post a quick video doing it.

Split Grip and Split Stance seems to help a broad range of issues for many kids. Gets them at least going the right direction!

Depends on the kid but in my High School group sessions we’ve been combining it off the tee then 5-10 front toss reps to get firing.
