Our fellow community member, Butterfly Love, shared this stunning and fascinating information with me yesterday about the Greenland shark, and I wanted to pass it along to all of you. Did you know about the Greenland sharks? These mysterious animals live in the icy waters of the North Atlantic and Arctic. Scientists believe they are the longest-living vertebrates ever discovered. Researchers studying the Greenland shark estimate that some individuals may live close to 500 years more. One of the sharks examined in a scientific study was estimated to be around 392 years old. Just imagine that for a moment. A shark alive today may have been swimming the oceans in the early 1600s… long before modern cities, long before most of the world we know today even existed. Even more incredible, these sharks grow extremely slowly and may not reach maturity until they are around 150 years old. Their slow pace of life in the deep, cold Arctic waters seems to be part of what allows them to live for centuries. Nature never stops reminding us how extraordinary life on this planet truly is. Butterfly Love, thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of wonder with our community. Moments like this help us remember that the oceans still hold ancient lives and quiet mysteries worth protecting. Little acts add up. Curiosity leads to care. And care leads to protection. 🌎🐋 **Greenland sharks can grow 11–13 feet long and weigh over 1,000 pounds. The cloudy eye often seen is caused by a tiny parasite that attaches to the surface of the eye.**

These Are the Days….
These are the days when I wish I was an animal. Daylight Savings Time is not a natural event when you have to run your life by a clock. You lose the sunrise that usually helps wake your body and get your heart moving. Then at night your brain gets confused because it’s still light outside and your body isn’t quite ready to sleep. Yes, you could go on Amazon and buy blackout curtains. Or… you could wish you were Samantha from Bewitched, twinkle your nose, and turn into whatever amazing animal you’d like to be. Then you could simply follow the sun and the moon and all the natural rhythms of the Earth without ever having to punch a clock. If you’re like me and suffer through losing that hour of morning daylight, I hope your body clock adjusts quickly. Mine appears to still be negotiating. 😳 Enjoy your day… the shorter long one. Or is it the longer short

Helping Elephants 🐘
I read a great article today from Good News Network about a rescue that really touched my heart. A conservation group called Wildlife SOS recently launched a specially designed elephant ambulance to transport injured elephants safely to their hospital. Its very first rescue was a 27-year-old elephant named Veer who had been used as a “begging elephant,” meaning he was taken into busy streets where handlers ask the public for money. Veer was suffering from a painful leg injury, so the veterinary team treated him on site and carefully transported him to their Elephant Hospital in India where he can now receive long-term care. The ambulance is specially designed for elephants, with harness systems that allow them to stand safely during transport while veterinarians monitor them and provide treatment along the way. Sometimes helping animals means thinking bigger. And in this case… really big. One elephant helped, one life changed, and a reminder that compassion travels in many forms… even an elephant ambulance. If you'd like to read the story that inspired this post, go here. What’s the most unusual animal rescue story you’ve heard about?

It’s time to meet Tami Tango! 🦨
I’ve finished my children’s book called Love Doesn’t Stink, inspired by a precious baby skunk that won my heart. I wrote this story to share how loving and wonderful these little misunderstood creatures truly are. If you have kids, grandkids, love to spoil a friend’s kids, or are just a big kid yourself, the link to the digital book is here. You can also find it in the Classroom anytime. Profits from this book will go to All Things Wild to support the care and protection of skunks.

Drop one word in the comments that describes your furball today. Sleepy. Zoomy. Bossy. Velcro. Royal. Grumpy. Angel. No explanation required… unless you want to spill the story behind it. I’ll go first: Monkee = Angel 💛 Jungle = Zoomy 🖤
