Happy Holidays everyone — hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to share an exclusive video on my current sealed collection and also pull back the curtain a bit on the reality of content creation. Right now my mains sponsor, Collectr pays me $200 per video, for 5-7 videos a month — a rate I earned after consistently averaging ~25k views per video. The average view count is 50k+ now with the occasional million-view post, but my rate remains the same due to prepayment. This year alone, I’ve made around 250 videos, with I spend up to 2 hrs writing and editing, which comes out to roughly 500 hours of work. With my sponsorships and pennies of ad revenue, that works out to about $15 an hour. And that’s before accounting for the costs of running this group, giveaways, subscriptions, software too, and general upkeep. After all of that, content creation is netting me $10 an hour. I genuinely wish I could do this for free and make a living. Helping people brings me real joy, but I’m also at a different stage of life now. I’ve been seriously courted by someone wanting to create a high-ticket (3k+) Collectibles investing course free of charge that we both think could make a lot of money. I think think there are good expensive courses out there that genuinely change lives, but it feels very difficult to deliver that level of value i'd feel good about, and I always have wanted to help the person with no money. So with all these factors in mind, I’ve decided to try a Patreon-style model where people can support at a level that actually makes sense for them. There will be tiers of access, but my intention is for most of what I teach to remain freely available, with increasing prices for those who want more access like this group was designed for. This is my attempt to strike a real balance between accessibility and sustainability. No matter how this ends up being priced, and where my group lives - everyone here in Cardboard Empire will be included in the highest tier for life. No strings attached. Please stay tuned as I build this out.
