Other ways to gain consensus without dot-voting activities?
Hey all, I'm looking for different ways a group can achieve consensus without having to resort to the usual dot-voting exercises. I have designed a workshop which practicially has a voting after each activity so far and it looks too repetitive and boring. Anyone have better, more interesting methods?

@Ulrich Witte similar to a ‘card sort’ in UX design work.

@Ulrich Witte I've been in big online sessions where there has been a seprate webapp that pops up with questions and polling. I don’t know what the platform was but it exists somewhere out there.
Career Tip: People can tell you're using Chat GPT ❌
Hey Workshoppers! Just thought this might be a useful tip/warning for those of you using Chat GPT a lot: It's pretty easy to tell when someone's using it! I see a few posts here in the community which I'm 100% sure were "generated" and they not only lack any sort of personality, but they also get no engagement. As in, nobody replies to them, they just take up space. The same thing will happen if you email people/clients, create posts on Linkedin etc. They won't respond. Believe me, I get 50 messages a day on Linkedin trying to sell me stuff/get a job and I can always tell when they are Chat GTP generated. You're writing needs to have some personality and authenticity for people to care enough to interact with it. Sure, I get it, if you're non-native English speaking, it's super helpful to be able to use something like this... but to be honest, I think it's better to just write how you write and then use Google Translate. So yeah, just a note to those using it as a "silver bullet". It's very obvious, it's not enjoyable to read and it can make you come across as being very dull. Cheers, Jonathan

I’m beginning to facilitate exploratory workshops about how to use the few AIs that are easily accessible. I think play is a really good way in. Writing help is one thing but there are so many more applications particularly with GPT 4 + plugins. It’s a shame that there seems to be a blanket grumpy dismissal of what AI can do that seems to put people off exploring.
Overcoming Burn Out
We love what we do. We do everything to maintain a balanced life. We devote time to our family. We make efforts to maintain our health. We manage our finances well. We have done our programs day after day faithfully and conducted hours of research to add mew material. Yet, there comes those moment we feel like there needs to be something else, something more, so level of change. What do you do go manage burn out?

@James Preece okay. In some situations it may be useful to recognise the more clinical definition of burnout which differs. A sub-set of my clients are recovering from burnout which is a bit different and in that context the advice I would give would be very different – words and definitions matter. Anyway, as you were.

@James Preece Yes. I got that. Perhaps this helps. I think a lot of people use ‘burnout' to define something that is actually less extreme, whereas the WHO, for example: "Burn-out is a syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. It is characterized by three dimensions: - feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion; - increased mental distance from one’s job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one's job; and - reduced professional efficacy. Burn-out refers specifically to phenomena in the occupational context and should not be applied to describe experiences in other areas of life." If one actually has burnout, the answer to your OP is very different to people who are perhaps one of the three bullets listed here.
Handling Disruptive Participants
Curious to know what tactics you use to handle disruptive participants in a workshop you are facilitating? (I have a more specific case described below).

I make sure I’m prepared.
Time Management
I have started the Design Sprint Master Class. So far so good. However, the company I facilitate for and will NEVER go for a 4 or 5 day Sprint. What is your approach for putting together a one day workshop, say that is 7 or 8 hours long?

Travis. I’ve split the sprint into two before, which worked okay. And I’ve achieved the same with a 2 or 3 day (as per the book) and completed the 4 and 5 day activities spread over time, next couple of weeks.
