I have added our first event to our calendar! It is a simple coffee hour, there is no set agenda for the coffee hours. Just a safe place to talk, get to know each other, and bounce ideas off of each other! This will be on Zoom and my personal zoom link is posted in the event. You will just need the Zoom app or go to Zoom on your computer. Super casual!

Grounding
Sometimes our thoughts spiral. Our hearts race. Our bodies feel unsafe, even when we are safe. That is when we ground. One of my all time favorite tools to use is the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 grounding technique. It gently guides the brain and body back to the present moment. By naming what is real around you, your brain gets the message that "I am here. I am safe. I can breath." Grounding does not erase the feelings, it reminds our body that we can handle them in a safe, appropriate, and easier way. Once grounded this is the time to teach effective coping mechinisms. Coping and managing our emotions and feelings is not something we are just born with. It is something that needs practice and grace.
