Just watched the video on breathing from the diaphragm. Such an interesting and complex topic. One of those experiences that feels a certain way, subjectively, but the way we feel it and the way it is described isn’t quite anatomically accurate. When the belly expands as the inhale happens, it is because as our lungs expand, our diaphragm presses down on our organs, like a hand on a water balloon. Although a bit of space is created at the bottom of the heart, (such a beautiful image) there isn’t actually any more space for air in the torso. When we focus on the belly, we connect consciously to allowing our muscles and organs to respond to the massaging action of the act of breathing. The Central Vagus nerve, which is a cranial nerve that wanders from the brain down through our whole digestive system and is a kind of gateway to the parasympathetic nervous system begins to dial the electrical energy in the body down, allowing the transition into a more relaxed state. The beauty of it is that it works whether you think about creating more space for air in the belly, or the muscles releasing to massage the organs! The body is a wonder.😊 I am an anatomy geek.

💫The magic this week provides is all about connecting to the heart of your truth. Pluto began its annual 5-month retrograde journey on May 4th.
