Welcome to our newest member - Alex R!
Let's say "hi" to our newest member - @Alex R If you’re caring for an aging parent or loved one—and feeling unsure what to do or where to turn—you’re in the right place. The Family Care Compass exists to be a place where: > you can share common experiences, > learn what steps to take, > navigate care decisions with confidence, > find those surprising and unique tips, and > to make sure you have a chance to laugh and relax in a supportive environment. You don’t need to have all the answers. You don’t even need to know the right questions yet. This community is here to help you find your direction—one step at a time. While we all share many things in common as we care for our older loved ones, each situation is unique and deserves special attention. So, to get started, please share a bit about you -- 🌎Where is your favorite vacation spot? 🍿What is your favorite movie? 😎What is your favorite emoji? Again, welcome!! Looking forward to sharing ideas, experiences and thoughts with you!

@Marsha Vacca You would laugh at me Marsha, I just got back from installing a battery in a neighbors car to help them out (long story but elderly). I'm supposed to be in the computer field and I seem to be migrating to your field of work. Is this a career change? 🤣

Oh, and that's after bringing another neighbor (who's 78 and suddenly has horrible back pain) ... 3 different types of homemade soup I made ... which she loved. Look at me ... caregiver, mechanic, and cook! 🤣🤔🤯
How confident do you feel making care-related decisions?
Wherever you might be right now with being a caregiver, how comfortable and confident do you feel when called upon to make care-related decisions for your loved one?

I would have really picked "Mostly confident" if that was a choice. I'm always giving advice and usually it is correct (even to myself). Just yesterday I saw my doctor and told her the change I made to my prescription amount. She said "That's what I would have done" 💥 and today talking to her a suggested to check in with her after x days and she agreed that would be perfect. Do I always follow my own advice? Heck no! I know I should only eat healthy and I mostly do ... but I don't think the slice of Costco Pizza I had for breakfast falls into that regiment. 🤔🤣 Nevertheless, I give plenty of advice to others and if they follow it they usually find I was correct. Of course, as @Anna Murrietta pointed out, people don't always give you all of the details, so your recommendations and care can never be 100%.
What's Harder Right Now?
Wherever and whatever you maybe doing right now as a family caregiver, what seems the hardest part of caregiving? Remember - vote and feel free to add your comments on this post as you may have something quite different that is the hardest part for you.

Since I'm not taking care of anyone I can't vote, but wow, they all seem so hard to deal with. Not knowing the future would certainly be tough as it encompasses everything.
