May be the wrong answer, but whatever glue is in my glue gun. Usually Tab Weld gray.
Knock Downs
I’ve been reading a lot of good things about flat end knock downs. I’ve read they are a little more accurate than the soft tips, because the soft tips tend to take down a little more of the metal around them whereas the flat tips only take down what you hit. They’re fairly expensive on some of the PDR sites, but I found these center punches for $12 and they are nice and long at 8 inches.

You have to be careful with the center punches since the outer edge is usually very sharp. There are a lot of homemade or repurposed tools being used so they will work, but that sharp edge will cause lines in the paint if it is not perfectly straight. You could round the edges off with a grinder or sander to make it less likely to damage the paint and they would work just fine.

I say that because I did it. That sharp edge will cut into the paint if you are not careful.
