Another idea for “precomposting”
Here is another idea on how to have biologically active bedding. It’s not required, but I know a lot of people already have electric composters. I’ve loved having this to just toss scraps in, and it’s easy for my wife and kids to do the same during the day. It is a pricey machine, but depending on your goals it could be another option. I would also say this is a “luxury” item because if power goes out you can’t use it. The idea of precomposting is to use bedding that is biologically active! This is the principle that I want to stick. If you just use plain inactive bedding, your worms will not adjust very quickly. My worms cannot keep up with how many food scraps I get, so having other ways to use them is part of my game plan! I collect scraps from my parents and aunt as well, so the scraps add up quickly. WAYS I USE FOOD SCRAPS -feeding the indoor worm bins -feeding outdoor worm bins -feeding in ground garden worm bins -freezing for future worm feedings -electric composters -outdoor compost piles The list can go on! Let me know how you use your food scraps ☺️

@Cherene Packard I love this idea! I just got a Reencle Prime. I was unclear if you give the compost it produces directly out of the electric composter?….or if you give it the cure time the instructions recommend? Thanks.
