4 contributions to Build On Purpose — Not Burnout
Hello from Missouri!
I guess I'd say I'm a "nomad-lite" or something like that. I've traveled all over in the last 20 years with the Army (recently retired), and I'll continue to travel on mission trips and other trips as I get the chance. Once my son is older, we'll probably do a lot of "slow travel" and work on the go. I LOVE exploring new places and cultures! As for building, I'm "medium-agnostic" in my creating and building, but everything I do centers around helping others and fixing things. I was the kid who took apart most of his toys to see how they worked inside. I've created a few different things over the years, and I'm working (very slowly) on publishing my first book. Currently, most of my time is spent on building processes and workflows for a financial planning firm I work with. I also do a lot of writing in the personal finance space (mainly my Enlisted Money newsletter and paid work for another financial planning firm). Otherwise, I love building LEGO with my son, carpentry, welding, 3D printing, and anything else I find interesting. One of the things I want to challenge myself on in my next chapter is to lean into my musical talents through developing my voice more. I also want to finally learn to play the guitar that I bought in Seoul, South Korea, years ago (if you're ever there, you have to check out the music market!).

@Charlene Gout my book is called Enlist to Wealth. It's shaped into a sort of money memoir focused on teaching young, enlisted military how to manage their money and invest in their future. It's the book I wish someone handed me when I got on my (first ever) plane ride to basic training.

@Tom Burden probably Kuwait because I actually got to go do some things. Driving in Kuwait city was pretty wild. It was really hot there, but you (mostly) get used to it. The naval base there was really cool because you could see the giant oil tankers and naval ships.

Sunday: 🟡🟡🟡 I overslept (up late), so I didn't have time to read this morning.

Monday: 🟡🟡🟡 or, are green circles a thing? 🟢🟢🟢 I'm not quite fire, but I'm feeling good and productive. @Tom Burden, is there a pinned comment somewhere with the format and emoji statuses so we can just copy and paste? I got good sleep (not perfect, but I'm rested (Oura score of 76 if that's helpful)), got my reading and writing done, and spent 30+ minutes in the back yard picking up walnuts, checking trees, and helping my son excavate a spot he got a hit with the metal detector.
Proud!!
I had to update all of my business account logins because I changed my domain name. The deadline? My old domain expires in 2 weeks. And if I don't finish everything by then, I'll be locked out completely. One thing I've always struggled with is to putting off tasks until they can't be postponed any longer. But today I finished everything ahead of time, and I am so freaking proud! What changed? Realizing how much extra time, stress and effort it takes to fix things when I don't do them on time. I even had some extra time left in my day, so I started working on the registration page for my first webinar 🥳

Nice! It's always interesting how very real deadlines with large consequences can get us motivated. Nothing like the fear of getting locked out of your accounts to get things done!
