10 contributions to The Shawn Lane Guitar Method
Original Hardcase is up with Lyrics for premium members!
Check it out yall! This song originally had lyrics. @Bill Oliver can tell us more about it! Also Bill, I am about to post some recordings that Shawn did with a black female singer that sounds a lot like Tina Turner. What do you know about these recordings?

Get You Back is a product from the same sessions as this version of Hard Case. Vocals by Johnny Singer.
Ray Gomez
Ray Gomez (Westside Boogie) has passed away. We had become Facebook friends and he was thrilled that Shawn covered his song. I loaned Shawn Ray’s album Volume and Shawn really liked it. Westside Boogie was perfect for Shawn. He quoted a lot of passages note perfect and added his own unique flavor.
For Our Premium Members I just dropped New Unreleased Recordings
Some of yall have seen the video of Shawn at 17 with Black Oak but it cuts off. This is pure bad ass of Shawn a long solo and then Billy Batte playing Keys who was Shawns big inspiration into classical piano! You will find this in the live section! Also I added Shawn Lane plays UK Reprise! I also added the original Hardcase which has lyrics! None of this stuff has ever been released, ever!!! If your not a premium member this alone is worth $29 plus that money goes a long way for us to keep releasing new stuff and I also added a track from the original powers of ten live without sax. Prepare to have your heads blown!

Get You Back was recorded with Johnny Singer’s vocals around the same time as Hardcase. Totally different arrangement.

@Jimmy Hudson That’s Johnny Singer too.
Shawn noodling
Shawn Lane had a great run with The Willys. Sometimes in between songs he would play a little something like Cruise Missile by Steve Morse, Somebody Get me a Doctor solo or Beelzebub by Bill Bruford. But one night he totally surprised me playing a short section of The Magnum Opus by Kansas. If he heard it he could play it.
Shawn Lane sees UK.
Conversed with Kinley Wolfe yesterday. It was he who took Shawn to the UK concert. I was there with several of my fraternity brothers. Shawn & Kinley were right behind us. Seeing Holdsworth opened the floodgates of Shawn’s creativity. What a show.

@Jimmy Hudson He’s still in Dallas. He comes to Memphis on occasion. He was a shredding bassist before shredding was a thing. He and Shawn were quite a pair in Savage and Black Oak.

@Jimmy Hudson I don’t have my Savage tapes. I’ve got a friend in Ohio that is making me a CD. I lost a bunch of my tapes and videos when my apartment in Memphis was burglarized while I was playing a gig in Paducah.

I met Shawn when he was 11 or 12. He was playing with his band Tyfoyd at Audubon Park in Memphis, TN. We remained close friends till the end.
