I just saw that and was completely blown away. My mum (who sadly died this month) was so excited and would have been so proud of that review and mention. The book is such a team effort though, I do think all the chapters knit together so beautifully and really enhance each other. Also - @Roje Khalique I so loved that chapter when I read the draft. It really touched me and I really wanted to reach out at the time to tell you. x

Agreed - there are a variety of reasons. I remember as a 7 year old one thing I really wanted was a 'book with blank pages' and I thought that's how to write a book. The book is there first, and I fill the blank pages, the content would just come to me and I'd fill it with all the stories in my mind. But I also love the inspiration or ideas I can spark by sharing stories. That for me is a huge driver in my writing. I love playing with words and writing, yes, but it's the ripple effect after that motivates me. The dialogue, even if I won't know about it, even if it's between words of my past with someone in the present. I love the distancing between me and my writing almost as much as the writing itself. When it isn't 'mine' anymore.

Ok, so I'm surprising myself at how difficult I'm finding this. 'this' being 'telling my world' about taboo. So I've done what I tend to do in these situation, breaking it all down into baby steps, making sure I'm connected with it and not ignoring it. But it's taking me a bit longer than I thought to publicly own this step. But once the pre-order link is there there's no running away from the reality anyways. (not that I am! - Just being open, honest and vulnerable about my vulnerability - how meta).

I always thought I was lazy. Whenever I had something big on I'd feel exhausted and sleep a lot (feeling guilty) or watch tv (feeling guilty). It took a long time for me to realise that my brain does a lot of the deep diving before the actual dping - all the time. Which is exhausting when I'm also doing all the other daily stuff. Like a constant tab on the Internet browser being open. So now I build in processing time. Time to things and also time to recover. I find going for long walks / hikes useful. Or quiet time. Even just allowing myself to go to bed during the day staring at the ceiling. Then, when my brain has explored all the avenues I suddenly sit down and just do whatever it is.
