Our College Ready Parent Society had a big week! We grew about 4x in size! I want to make sure everyone is feeling good about their scholar's college journey. Join me for a live Q&A - bring your questions and learn from the questions of others. Right here in our Skool community! You may find it even more helpful to watch "What Every Family Needs to Know About College" beforehand. As a reminder - if you buy it now at $17, you get the next 2 modules (and any future modules) for free. The price will go up with each module added.

@Beth Agnew Hi Beth! The first thing I will say is that there is not one right way to do this. Yes, there are certain things that need to be done and deadlines to follow. However, perfection is not required to get to the end result that you and your daughter want. I’m sure you have heard it, but just take it one step at a time. I have worked with students who planned from eighth grade, have intricate spreadsheets, and planned out every little detail. I have also worked with many students who were far from that level of planned or organized, and they ended up just as well in this process. I think somewhere in the middle is the sweet spot. What grade is your scholar in? I may be able to help with prioritizing the next steps. Also, does she have her heart set on any specific school?

It sounds like you and she are on top of things! One thing that can help when it seems like there’s always something happening or being discussed about college prep, is to designate a time once or twice a week to talk about it. College talks can sometimes feel like they creep it to every conversation unintentionally. But, I really think that you are on track..
How Do You Feel Right Now About the College Process?
One thing I've learned after 25+ years in school counseling and higher ed: the college process doesn't feel the same for every family. Some of you are just starting to think about high school course selection. Some of you have a junior who's stressing about the SAT. And some of you have a senior who just got their financial aid letter and has NO idea what any of it means. That's why I'm asking — where are you right now? Drop a comment with your student's grade level AND the #1 thing on your mind about their college journey. Don't overthink it. There are no wrong answers here. I'll read every single one — and over the next few weeks, I'll be creating content and resources directly based on what you share. This community exists for YOU. Let's make sure it actually hits home. 👇

@Dwayna Williams First, congratulations! It sounds like your senior is on the right track! What types of things are you thinking may have been missed - more scholarships, actions for her college, something else?

Hi Dwayna! I actually would have her start with googling: "Scholarships for seniors due in may or june..." Then add keywords that align with her major/career goals, interests, demographics, etc. For example, scholarships due in May or June for Nursing majors. That is a great jumping off point. Most scholarships are available to high school seniors, do you don't really need to narrow by that factor. Check out the Society Library in the Classroom section of our community here. I have a free scholarship list where she can also start the search. Also, I like Big Future that she can sign up for through her College Board account. Finally, there are social media accounts that consistently advertise scholarship opportunities. She can check those out. Let me know how it goes, and any questions that come up. I'm here to help!
