Having time out in August has done me the world of good: To reflect on the loss of my dear friend Lady Val and to spend time with family, walking on beaches, beachcombing, eating good food, and enjoying things that I wouldn't normally enjoy! Thank you to all of you that kept the community active while I was away! Are you ready to enter the final phase of this year, and fire all of us up. When I started planning for your activation sessions, here's what I realised: Q4 doesn't start in October. It starts now. September, October, November — that's our real runway before we wind down for Christmas. Three months to activate, not plan-to-activate. So from tomorrow, September Activation kicks off here in the community. Expect more from me, more from each other, and a clear line running all the way to Activate 26 on Thursday 1 October — where we'll get crystal clear on what the rest of the year looks like. I've just heard that my good friend and colleague Lady Val Corbett died in her sleep last night. For those that don't know, Lady Val was a force of nature - she started the Corbett Network in honour of her husband Lord Corbett who was a amazing advocate for prison reform. She has been gathering organisations that support prisoner rehabilitation ever since. She also ran a ladies' lunch once a quarter for professional women, and the profits all went towards the Corbett Network. I was honoured to be a volunteer helper at her events. Lady Val wrote a testimonial for my book Wing of an Angel and was a great supporter of Beyond Recovery, the social enterprise I ran for ten years. She also had Derrick and Omar as speakers at one of her events.
