Sharp as hell my man
Anyone have days like this?
Some days I wake up and start my morning routine before going to work. Then I look at myself in the mirror, stare at the stubble and just think, I don't want to shave. In fact, I don't want to put on a nice shirt and crisp chinos. I don't want to lace up my nice shoes. I'm just grabbing this two-year old polo with the flimsy collar, my jeans, and the somewhat clean semi-casual sneakers. Fragrance? No--deodorant is enough for today. Anyone else?

I’m 40 and for the majority of my adult life, I have been a tattooer. Pretty much one of the most lax work environments anyone can ask for. I can wear whatever I want, shave or not shave, no dress code, nothing like that. Unfortunately I took advantage of this way too much and allowed myself to get used to throwing whatever clothes on without any sense of style and being fine with shaving maybe once a week (and my facial hair grows FAST) Not until this year did I start realizing the value of dressing nice and shaving regularly to present myself as a mature 40 year old who has his shit together rather than some lazy careless middle aged man baby who still dresses like he did when he was a teenage skateboarder. Anyways, because of all that, even though I’ve been upgrading my wardrobe and stepping up my style to look more mature, put together, and classy, I have days like that more often than not.
Sunday evening earth tones
For the third and final service of today, I went with a new look altogether: earth tones that portray South Dakota well, especially this time of year. White FC dress shirt + buffalo nickel cufflinks Wool knit tie Brown herringbone vest Grey herringbone tweed jacket Cotton PS with burgundy/mahogany border Sandstone wrangler jeans Sage trout socks Cole Haan brogues

The texture 🤌🏼
Holiday Boot Project
After my cowboy boot project, I decided to patina a pair of boots for my SIL. He wanted brown Chelsea’s and I found a good pair of Johnston Murphy’s on Poshmark. Since these were in excellent shape I did not need to refurbish them. I simply removed an oil stain and conditioned them before adding the patina. Rather than darker dyes or antiquing finish, I used dark brown and black cream polish in the areas I wanted to burnish. It took a a dozen or more thin layers to build up the darker color on the toes and foxing. I practiced on my medium brown loafers and the previously discussed chisel-toe double monks that I’m not in love with. I like both pairs more now. Would welcome your thoughts and constructive feedback!

40 year old who never put much thought into dressing classy at all until now. Pretty much starting from scratch with a very low budget.
