Ear training is everything. Without your ears, you don’t know where the issues lie, and can’t address them. It adds unnecessary frustration to while process.
Fix-The-Mix tomorrow (July 21st)
In case you missed it, we're hosting our free Fix-The-Mix Challenge tomorrow, July 21st, at 9am PDT / 12pm EDT / 5pm BST / 6pm CEST! Join us for three days of start-to-finish mixing with a multi-platinum engineer Kevin "Black Pearl" McCloskey live on Zoom - I promise you'll learn a ton and have a blast, whatever your skill level. You can grab the Zoom link and add the event to your calendar here in Skool: https://www.skool.com/mastering/calendar?eid=080916ff5ab74a839b9e8c90fd96be93&eoid=1784649600 Also, don't forget the Backstage Session each day after the event, which is a group mentor session for Premium/VIP members only! This is a chance to get feedback on your music, ask additional questions, and more. You can also find that in the calendar (start a free trial here if you don't have access). See you there! Rob

@Fernando Vasquez If you've signed up, they will send you a replay link via email. At least that's how it was done last time around.

Separating prime & flow sessions
Long screen recording, writing from scratch (orchestral version)
a few people asked for this recording, it's long so i'd probably start at 45 min in as that's about the time I figure out the melody/chords i'm using, then it builds quicker from there. also sorry for the bad audio quality, this was using Skool's "live meeting" feature which unfortunately doesn't sound as good as zoom replays. in the future for this stuff I'll be using zoom. let me know if you have any questions if you watch parts of it and want to dive deeper. also, I really like how this turned out, so I posted it on my instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/Dan7vcvvHYU/ If you share your music on socials, let's stay connected over there too - peace!

AI and Music
I do not know if this is appropriate post or not. I saw a video on YouTube from a professional producer = songwriter, etc. ... who believes AI such as Suno is a tool. I am curious about what people think here. I know some artists use Suno and others. https://youtu.be/MJ4d0-Wi1z8?si=yafw9g34SBgIhP2e

@Tim Collins Agreed. Most problems associated with AI are system level issues that require a system level fix. For an individual, as long as it serves your purpose. Use away :)

@William Cumming uhm, I think you agree with my point more than you think. The music uploaded to the streaming platforms are from individuals artists, which include… you and I. If every single artist stops making music, AI will lose the ability to innovate and improve. If it does get data from big streaming platforms, then it would be unethically obtained, because “officially” streaming platforms say they do not hand over data to generative AI. As to why AI music often sound over compressed, to my understanding, most AI engage in a process called ‘audio diffusion’ where the AI forms the song by carving out a block of white noise. Thanks for the reply though :)
