I MADE SOMETHING COOL TODAY
I took a book that wasn’t quite done and stripped it down to the main framework (just 2500 words - an 8 minute read) and made a cover for it (shout out to everyone who gave feedback). If you’re building a business in the “transformational” space and you want help.. I have a variety or tools, courses and containers I’ll be launching. Also I’m going to open a small handful of 1:1 spots - let me know if your interested in those - they cost a little more but I can save ppl YEARS of work! Also.. let me know if you want the link to the ebook - it should be up tommorow.

15/21 WEEK 3 TRANSMISSION: CONSISTENCY
Consistency is where it all starts to land in the material realm! We started with clarity, moved through courage, and now we bring that energy down into the base of the body, into action, repetition and material results. It's not about having perfect days or being productive all the time. It’s about the average of your efforts over months and years. Each repetition might only make you slightly better, but over time those tiny improvements compound until the quality of your work is unrecognisable. AVOID THIS TRAP: UNDERSTAND THAT INNER WORK ISN’T OUTER WORK Inner work can help us understand ourselves, heal, develop awareness and become more capable humans. It doesn't automatically produce results in the outside world. Results come from action taken repeatedly over time in a consistent direction. This requires us to stop expecting immediate feedback and take a much longer view. If you want to become genuinely good at communicating your message, making videos, writing, leading or creating, think in years rather than weeks. There are dozens of skills inside any craft. You need enough repetitions for those skills to develop and begin working together. MEASURE THE REP, NOT THE RESULT Consistency also requires a lot of self compassion, all we can do is show up and do our best. HABITS AND SYSTEMS: Willpower alone is a poor foundation for consistency. Habits turn repeated actions into things that require less thought. Systems organise the environment around you so the right actions become easier. That might mean: - having a weekly rhythm - creating content on particular days - capturing ideas as they arise - reviewing and organising those ideas once a week - batching several pieces of content at once - reviewing what worked at the end of each week - The goal is to reduce the amount of energy spent deciding what to do and preserve that energy for actually doing it. FALL IN LOVE WITH THE PROCESS Eventually, consistency becomes less about discipline and more about relationship with the craft.

I like that one the most: "To reduce the amount of energy spent deciding what to do and preserve that energy for actually doing it." I feel a clear shift in putting things out and less perfectionism. "I have already 5 things I do not like about my video, I am gonna post it anyway and reserve that 5 things for the next video" - that is so cool!!! I always had that "fuck it, let's do it" somewhere in me and I am so happy that it is now more present in my messaging. I feel like I am still in week one. Still processing that I am about to regularly put my message out into the world. This is new for me and feels like baby shoes - but the shoes feel really good! I like the pace I am having and I am really curious about how consistent it is gonna be. My commitment is a weekly review I am having with a weekly-review-buddy already since a few weeks. And to spent 2 hours a week minimum for video creation. Until it feels like it is really not working for me. This is kind of a unclear commitment or formulation, but I like it. I'll see if it is a self trap. And I really want consistency without making an effort in terms of crossing my boundaries.

I notice how this is the first day of the week where I am getting back on track with MYM. The first week was great and I had quiet a breakthrough around creating and posting. I can feel this still with me, the confidence, and it doesn't feel like I will drift back - so a real breakthrough - yay! And my system definitely was in some kind of "Ok that's enough, done that, I need a break, let's take some time to let that sink in and not going any further."
9/21 JOURNAL ON FACING YOUR FEAR
What if I post on the internet, and the people who hate me see it, and they make fun of me, and everyone laughs, and I get cancelled, and I end up homeless and alone? Fear is part of us and it exists for a reason. It comes from embodied instinct, from ego protection, and from the culture around us. Its job is to stop us taking big risks, anything that could impact our status or security. Usually that looks like avoiding the unknown. The cost is that most of what we want, and most growth, sits on the other side of that fear. What to do The best way to work with fear isn't to get rid of it. It's to meet it and see what it's actually about. How to do it Get your journal out and write down all your fears about showing up on social media. At least 10 or 20. Take the one with the most emotional charge and elaborate on it. Follow it to its conclusion. What happens next? Then what? Then what? For example: everyone realises I'm a fraud, it spreads across the internet, it ruins my reputation, no one wants to work with me, and I end up destitute under a bridge. Once you've found the fear, feel into where it lives in the body. Meet it, breathe into it, accept that it's there. Then see it for what it is: a story. What's next Spend some time working through this, then share your experience in the comments.

My fears revolve around the following scenarios: I’ll be excluded; I’ll shrink and become like a limp sack; I’ll be left alone and won’t get the validation from others that I need so much. I’ll wither away and have to start a new life. (Interestingly, I also felt curiosity about the idea of starting a new life.) I’m already quite familiar with these fears. This time, I’m noticing even more clearly the various physical sensations associated with them. And the aspect of seeking validation from others is also very significant here. A few months ago, I read a quote that really struck a chord with me at the time and comes through very clearly here: “You will never get the validation from others that you long for.”

I am looking for opinions, feedback, votes on my current pivot, or more like ‘merge’. After the call on Weds (backed up now by another group I’m in), I’m gonna kill my separate design Instagram (as ‘better at design’) and just post as me on my own account (as ‘james tranter’). Ahh. Exhales. Time to build a fucking world. People wanna follow people and I agree. The next piece of the puzzle is; I own jamestranter.com and also betteratdesign.com , if I am to go back to posting as me (even tho it’s 90% design content) do I also kill the better at design webpage and put it all into the one by my name? I kinda don’t expect there to be a clear answer but I’m curious as to what ya’ll think, what you’ve seen or experienced around this topic. Even if it’s a small or random musing, I’d love to hear it. I think the better at design is a cool name, but I’m happy to kill my darlings Moinsens
