I asked ChatGPT a straight question the other day and it flat out refused. You've hit this. Mid-project, you ask something completely reasonable, and the guardrails slam down. Or you try to generate an image and it decides no. So I built my own. My server, my domain, my rules. Straight answers, no lecture. Costs about $10 a month. The video walks through the three pieces you need: 🧠 Where to find the open-source models that have had the guardrails stripped out, and how to spot the sketchy ones before you install malware. 🖥️ The $5 to $20 Hetzner server it runs on. I handed Claude Code my API key and it provisioned the whole thing. I haven't logged into Hetzner since. 🌐 Open Web UI as the front end, then a Cloudflare tunnel so it lives on your own domain and you can log in from your phone The part nobody talks about... it gives you an API endpoint.
