Adding value...
Hello all! Something I've been thinking about a lot lately as I try to intentionally build my email marketing is HOW to add value. (Particularly when it comes to education.) People are so inundated with all kinds of information that I'm not sure how to figure out what is valuable to them versus what will just be more white noise. I think a survey would be helpful in this, but I'm not quite there yet. I sometimes ask questions in my emails, but I usually only get a few responses. How do you make sure what you're sending is valuable to your audience?

Starting From Zero - Best Growth Strategies?
Hi all! I’m really enjoying seeing all of the different content and growth methods here. But since I’m starting my list from the ground up, along with my business, a lot of the opportunities feel above my level right now. How did you start growing your list when you were first starting out? What strategies do you wish you would have done sooner?
I don't have the answers by a long shot, but something I thought of while reading through your frustrations about collabs and having x number of followers - maybe try collaborating with smaller business owners who are in the same boat? Like someone who also has a growing list, giving each other a shout out in your emails and helping each other grow your audiences?
What Tools Are We Using?
Hi all! I’m just getting started with my business, so I’m wondering what tools we’re using for things like email marketing, product hosting, website building, calendar scheduling, etc.. I’ve been trying out HighLevel for a while, but honestly, it’s a lot, and I’m not sure if I’m the biggest fan of some of the features. I would love tool recommendations from the community!
I use Squarespace for my website (as well as for a non-profit website that I manage). It's got some quirks, but overall easy to use and design something that looks nice. I use Flodesk for my email list. I just changed to this from Mailchimp because it was more affordable, but I really like the simplicity of it and the beautiful templates. I don't need my own store front, so I don't use any sales apps.
Hello!
Hello everyone! I've been lurking here for a while and thought it was time to say Hi. I've been devouring Kylie's podcast and feel like I've gotten so much out of it, and looking forward to continuing that growth here. I moonlight as a Handknitwear Designer - which is to say, I write and sell hand knitting patterns. It is a very saturated (and not very profitable) market. I let my business kind of go to sleep during the pandemic, as my full time/day job is teacher and it was all just a lot at the time. I recently decided I wanted to dust it off and revive my business, with more intention this time. My hope is that I can actually make a profitable side hustle, but I have misgivings and doubts every day. I've slowly been working on some patterns - which takes a very long time. In the meantime, I've been trying to be pretty steady about my email list. I still had my email list from years ago, so I dusted it off and moved to Flodesk. I've been pretty regular in my monthly+ emails, and that feels like a much nicer pace than social media. I know I'm making so many mistakes, but you have to start somewhere and I know I'll keep growing. I'm looking forward to connecting and learning in this space.
