Mosquitoes, snoring, dog barking...how do you cope?
@Juju Hesketh asked a really great question about falling back asleep after being woken up in the middle of the night by random sounds. I gave my two cents on a proven technique that reliably helps people return to sleep: hypnagogic hallucinations. See the original post and comments here. Hop on the thread there to see the technique explained, and would love to hear what you specifically do when a buzzing mosquito, dog barking or snoring spouse jerk you awake 👀

@Amy Walker How are these Loops to lay on and basically sleep with? I mostly sleep on my side, basically laying with my ears against the pillow, and most earplugs I’ve tried hurts my ears to sleep on.
How do you deal with being interrupted in your sleep?
This happened to me last night. I could hear a buzzing bee or something similar and it woke me up twice. Whenever this happens, especially when we travel, I really struggle to settle back to sleep. Being woken up suddenly by that buzzing sound makes me feel weirdly fragile, almost like a child 😂 It’s honestly one of my pet hates. Once I’m awake, I almost become scared that it’s going to happen again, so I find it hard to properly relax and go back to sleep. Then of course I’m absolutely knackered the next morning. With the weather getting warmer every year and us travelling soon, I thought I’d ask: How do you manage interrupted sleep like this and get yourself settled again quickly? Would love to hear what works for you. 💗
For me, living in the noisy city center, I just go with ear plugs. Not every night, just for those situations where I feel I need them, cause something’s happening outside.

@Juju Hesketh Oh noo, hahah. – I thought the same, but definitely changed my mind after a year or so. 🤣 Especially when it's hot summer and you also want the windows open. I'm moving out of the city center in 2 months. Looking forward to some peace and maybe hearing birds again. 😆 Do you use any white noise or something for falling asleep?

Hey, I’m Chris from Denmark! I’ve found sleep a very interesting topic for a while now, and it’s always something I try to optimize. I’ve never paid much attention to my dreams before though. Only just starting to find this an interesting topic too. Excited to meet everyone in here. 👋
