Lesson 3
My main character moment: For a long time I thought others were judging me, so I constantly felt criticized. Then I realized that in fact, no one cares. But in the best way possible (of course friends care, but they don’t care about my faults and mess ups or ugly parts). Then I realized that actually, all those years of feeling judged I was projecting, and I was actually unknowingly being judgmental of others. It took a while to accept this reframing and revisit so many memories with this new awareness, and retroactively seeing how people were being actually very accepting and supportive even if I couldn’t see it at the time. But having lots of empathy for myself and non-judgement of myself has gone hand in hand with my ability to connect with others, and that has been one of my biggest revelations. That, how judged I feel by others is actually directly tied to how I decide to judge myself, and it comes from me first.

Hi, Community!
Hi, community! I am Rachel Davis and glad to be here. I want to be a grounded and connected person and my communication skills have never been trained. I speak in big rooms with confidence and I am also a mom who wants to be softer. Already I am learning a lot about myself and glad I am not alone in these behaviors. I crave growth for myself, my career and -of course-mostly my babies. I need to work on my tone and I look forward to growing my awareness. I can't thank you enough @Genesis Be 🙏

Hey @Rachel Davis! I love that you are working on the softer and interpersonal side of speaking even while having skills to speak in big rooms. Tone is something kids pick up on and absorb so well so I think it’s great you’re bringing your intention there! Wishing you the best on this journey!
Lesson 2
My new main character identity is: I’m a captivating storyteller who has great stories ready to go, and I’m hilarious in conversation and can connect with others instantly through masterful small talk.
Hi! :)
My name is Ebonie Smith. I am a music producer based in LA. I’m excited to be here and step into this space with you all. I’m coming in with a deep interest in strengthening how I communicate my ideas, especially in a way that feels grounded, clear, and impactful. Public speaking is something I am comfortable and confident with, but I have never studied it formally. I want to grow into it more fully, not just in terms of confidence but in how I shape stories, hold attention, and connect with people in real time. I’m hoping to learn practical tools, refine my voice, and push past some of the limits I have. Looking forward to learning alongside you all and seeing how we each evolve through this process.

@Ebonie Smith Hi! I’ve been checking out your content and have to say you have such a strong presence and communication style. I’m interested to see how you might grow as a speaker as someone who is already at such a high level! Also as a music producer I’m inspired by how you have used social media to present your ideas and I’m taking notes.
Homework 1
Where have I been an NPC? I’d say waking up and letting the flow of the day carry me without being thoughtful about taking my time. I get into the rush even though I know that slower, more deliberate and intentional actions will make me more effective. It’s partially I think about working as a way of avoiding… I can be more thoughtful about my time and how I can be of service to others as I move throughout my daily routine.

@Genesis Be it has come with age. There have been like, breaking points where I’ve allowed myself to work so frantically until I have had crises. And in those times I had to chose slowness as the only way forward, accepting the loss in achievement that I thought would follow. And then pretty much without fail, I would end up making much more progress than I had been doing before. And more than achievement, I think just being able to live life in the current moment and have mental space to consider those around me more and not be so frantic and singular minded was such an upgrade!
