šŸŽ„ Nathan Fowkes 'Emotion' Composition Exercise Demo (Raw Video)
Straight from the master's mouth to you. I didn't invent these exercises. During the 4 workshop days, Nathan emphasized two things A LOT: 1. Emotion 2. tonal abstract sketching I know most of us are working on figure and head craft, but for those who are making pictures or those who want to unlock their creativity (@Subham Sharma give these a try) this simple exercise is very useful and fun imo :) It's a perfect warm-up to your art and practice session if you're feeling a little 'flat'. Personally, this came at the perfect time. I've been in a comfort zone (form and academic rendering mode) for years and didn't even realize it. As a student, whenever a master artist I admire advises to do something, I go all-in and obsess over it until I fully absorb the knowledge and the core philosophy the master is trying to pass on to me. Nathan has been my hero and a HUGE influence for over a decade so I am trying my best to fully absorb what he taught us/me. This video is raw, no audio. I will make a proper version with commentary. If you have questions about the process, please comment here.

Applying Nathan Fowkes' Teaching to Drawing
I had a lot of fun finishing this drawing. The most fun I've had in a long time. This drawing started a few weeks ago, before Nathan arrived in Thaialnd. I was still in my usual 'comfort zone' of value and form focused drawing. I was in 'academic mode', only thinking about how I can make pretty, rendered form. After Nathan's workshops, I took the finish of this drawing in a new direction. A direction that was uncomfortable but I think produced a much more compelling work of art. In this thread I'll describe the finishing process and how Nathan affected my thinking and approach in real time...

Constructions from 5-12. Give me some general critique about whts working and what not. i noticed proportional errors in most of them. In the end there is a constructed head from back please check it out and fix it if required
Head question
Is this wrong or am i tripping? Even if we round the head instead of straight lines

@Sergey B. Here I think the nose is off the center line in the front. In this pose I don't think we would see the nose

Hi I am subham. I am interested in portraiture and figure drawing. I love themes of creation and destruction and want my work to reflect that.
