Most Small Businesses Are Leaving Government Contracts on the Table Without Knowing it
Most small business owners I talk to think government contracts are "for the big guys." Here's what they don't realize: Over $170 billion in federal contracts are set aside specifically for small businesses every year. The problem isn't the opportunity. It's not knowing where to look. That's where contract research changes everything. Instead of guessing which agencies need what — contract research lets you: → Find active opportunities that match YOUR capabilities → Study what competitors are winning (and how) → Spot patterns before the next solicitation drops → Walk into bids with confidence, not confusion It's not about working harder. It's about aiming at the right targets. The businesses growing through government contracts aren't bigger, they're just more informed. 💬 Real talk: when was the last time you started your week with a clear plan, and actually stuck to it by Friday?

Most Small Businesses Skip This Step And Wonder Why They're Losing
Contract research isn't sexy. Nobody talks about it at networking events. But here's the truth: The businesses quietly winning government contracts aren't the loudest ones in the room — they're the ones who did their homework BEFORE the opportunity dropped. Knowing who's buying, what they've bought before, and what they're likely to need next? That's not a advantage. That's the whole game. Small businesses fail at federal contracting not because they lack skills but because they chase contracts blind. No data. No strategy. Just hope. Hope is not a proposal. When you research properly, you stop guessing and start positioning. You know which agencies align with your NAICS codes. You know which contracts are expiring. You show up prepared and prepared people win.

This is gold. The go/no-go point especially most small businesses skip that entirely and waste months chasing contracts they were never positioned to win. Studying the market BEFORE the solicitation drops is what turns small businesses into serious competitors. You can't wing federal contracting and expect to last. Quick question, in your experience, how far in advance should a small business ideally start tracking an agency before a contract hits?
Best Credit Card for Contracts?
Hi everyone! Hope all is well. I am just reaching out in regards to choosing the best business credit card. I understand these potential government contracts are 25k+ USD and I wanted to know what credit cards you guys use? The spending limit and how to get approved? Just some general insight so I can move forward with confidence. I wanted to not use my personal credit cards as much for these government contracts. Thanks!

@Aanish Basheer Great question! For federal contracting I've been using the American Express Business card and it's been solid. The spending limits are flexible and can scale as your business grows, which matters a lot when you're dealing with 25k+ contracts. Key thing though, try not to rely on credit cards to fund the contract. Most gov contracts pay Net 30 to Net 60, so you want the card more for cash flow gaps and expenses, not as your main source of capital. Amex also has good rewards if you're spending at that level. Definitely keep your personal and business finances separate you're already thinking right!
