Less see your latest or favorite creations!!
I’ve posted a bit about myself so far but I would love to see what everyone else is working on! Drop a picture of your latest or greatest creations in whatever your medium and style is! Let’s encourage each other and start getting more comfortable sharing our work! Here’s my latest painting I’ve started of my doggo Picasso 😇 he’s been with us for almost 9 years since he was a puppy and is going to be an example for a paint your pet class in tracing this weekend 🤩 I’m hoping to start getting him blocked in with color tomorrow before the class Sunday and I’ll be finishing up details on him between starting another portrait of my other doggo Benny 🙃 I’ve also included a recent memorial pet portrait I did a couple months ago for a friend that inspired this class 😇 now let’s see your work! 😎

A different perspective on a full STAHP! 🙃
Just wanted to do this video for you guys real quick about my perspective of being a stay at home parent (STAHP) (I know I fudged that a little bit 😅) I had kind of a rough day trying to balance my chores and tasks towards getting the house clean and getting an event made for a sound bath I’m doing soon here in my area. My son was feeling extra clingy and needed my attention but I kept getting frustrated while trying to do other things I thought were important. The day came to a climax point where he had a meltdown over a toy he wasn’t being kind with and I took it away (my frustration could have been lessor) and I sat with him through it, helped him calm and come back to center, got him some dinner and the night ended up getting much better after I took that time for him. Success as a parent looks a lot different than these big entrepreneurs that look like they have it so easy. We face challenges off the camera that consume so much of our energy that there’s often not much left for creativity. But I will argue (slightly) that creativity and self care are even more important as a parent and I want to be here for you through those challenges in any way that I can 💚 thanks for watching and reading. Have a kick ass day tomorrow and keep making small steps forward where you want to go! 😇

Hi Squid - I want to send you kudos for the work you are doing and the efforts you continue to make to assure that home, family and Self, as well as this community are taken care of. Also, I want to reassure Kayla that you are not alone in feeling guilty when other things "need to be done". I don't know an artist or creative person who does not struggle with that challenge. I know that I have faced it and found through honest meditation and self analysis that the guilt is 99% based in criticism and shaming for "wasting time." A criticism from the past. The other 1% I will allot to actually needing to engage in responsible activity. It took me a long time (I'm 74 yrs. old) to recognize that I AM a responsible person. I pay my bills, meet my obligations, take care of my life and dedicate time to friends and family. I am not a slouch, like that voice in my head is accusing me of when the guilt arises. I deserve every creative moment I spend with my art, my writing and my journaling. Be gentle with yourself, and be honest with your response to the guilt. It probably doesn't deserve the energy you are giving to it. Keep Creating!
