Cultural Note: La Bise
Hello y'all ! Some Cultural note here: La Bise 💋 In many French-speaking countries, people greet each other with la bise (one or more cheek-kisses). Key Takeaway: - Who: Usually only used with friends and family. - How Many: The number of kisses varies by region (usually 2, but sometimes 3 or 4 like in Paris!). - As a Beginner: If you are unsure, don't initiate it! Just offer your hand (a handshake) or a simple "Bonjour". A simple Bonjour is always safe, however if the other person considers that you "deserve" a kiss because your are not meeting for the first time or because of the situation (say that he/she is a friend of your friend/parent) then she would say "on peut se faire la bise?!" (can we kiss each other?) then you can kiss the person, on the cheeks not on the lips !!! ahahah
