1. Quick Lesson: Bonjour vs. Salut - Formal vs. Informal
Bonjour ! 👋 Today, let's learn the fundamental French greeting. There are two main ways to say hello: - 1. Bonjour: Used at any time of day (until sunset) and in almost all situations (formal, with strangers, with teachers, in shops). ALWAYS use Bonjour if you are unsure. Bonsoir is from 6pm roughly until the next morning - 2. Salut: Used only with friends, family, and people you know well (informal). It can also mean "Bye!" The Secret: Tu vs. Vous This relates to Vous (Formal/Plural You) and Tu (Informal You). If you use Vous with someone, you use Bonjour. If you use Tu, you can use Salut. Practice: Try saying Bonjour aloud 5 times! Thumbs up if you understood EVERYTHING !!!! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LieZnT2EKSQ Quick video to prononce it well. POLL TIME! 🧐 Which greeting is best? Scenario: You are entering a bakery in Paris and want to buy a baguette. - A) Salut ! - B) Bonjour madame/monsieur ! - C) Au revoir !
