4 contributions to Firefighter Career Connection
Solid Career” isn’t an accident — it’s built on purpose
A lot of firefighters hit a point where they’re like:“I love the job… but I don’t want to drift through it.” If you want a strong career, you need a simple plan — not a complicated one. Here’s a challenge for this week: Pick ONE focus area - Your craft (being excellent at the basics) - Your fitness (staying capable for the long haul) - Your reputation (being the firefighter others trust) - Your leadership (even if you’re not an officer yet) - Your promotion prep (starting earlier than you think) Comment: What are you focusing on right now — and why that one?If you’re stuck, say that too. That’s what the group is for.

Fitness, because I wanna get stronger and able to prevent injuries in the long run
Roll Call — Where are you at in your career?
If you’re already on the job, you’re in the right room. Drop a quick intro so the right people can find you: - Rank / assignment: (FF, Eng, LT, etc.) - Type of department: (career, combo, big city, small town) - One thing you’re working on right now: (fitness, skills, leadership, promotion, balance, etc.) - One thing you’d love input on from other career firefighters: - You don’t have to write a novel — just enough to start real conversations. And if you see someone in a similar spot as you… reach out in the comments. That’s how the strong network gets built. We need to eastablish more engagement to make this group with having for all of us! Roger

I’m a EMT been doing the job for about eight months. I work for three stations and two departments. I’m currently working on getting into fire Academy with one of the biggest fire companies in my state. And then at the end of the year, I’ll be hopefully have my advanced EMT. My initial goal to be a part of this community is to be able to have my career last long and not have to worry too much about injuries. I’m currently working on my fitness and I’m excited to meet other people. Thanks.

@Roger Waters honestly any advice would be welcome. I’m female and it’s not quite common to have in the fire service. I’m mostly worried about upper strength knowing that my lower body is stronger then upper
