My new(ish) camera...
Hi all. So I finally have a camera, which I have borrowed from a friend that no longer uses it. A Nikon D3000. I know that it's old but from talking with other photographers, it just fine for learning while I figure out what I really want to buy for myself. So as a complete newbie and just learnt how to turn it on, where do I start. Assingment 1? šŸ“· J

@Omar Sameh Ooh, that was the first camera I tried (the D3200); it was my parents', and with that, I really got into photography. Now I use an A7C.

@Wittawat Sadindum Sure šŸ˜„, so i took these photos at a local stadion and its park. I had/have a tutor, or idk how to say it, who gives me a task and a place, and I try to photograph according to that. I didn't have any conception of what and how to photograph; I just composed that it looked cool, and I also paid attention to the lines ending at the edge of the picture (aesthetics). So I would say I just photographed instinctively and how I think it looked great.
Assignment #12: Close-Up (The Beauty in the Details)
Thank you all for the great submissions for the Panorama Assignment! I really appreciated the diversity—from a beautiful abstract sunset to the backsides of statues! :D Now that we've played with aspect ratios and capturing wide spaces over the last two weeks, it's time to do the exact opposite. We are getting closer. Much closer. The Assignment: Close-Up Photography The Art of Seeing isn't always about capturing the grand landscape or the entire street scene. Often, it's about finding the extraordinary in the mundane by simply changing our perspective and looking closely at the details. Your task is to create a captivating close-up image. (Important Note: You do NOT need an expensive macro lens for this! You can use your phone, a standard 50mm, or whatever you have.) The goal is to fill the frame with details, textures, or shapes that we usually overlook. Abstract reality, show us the unseen, and be intentional with your light and composition. The Goal: To train your eye to find the beauty in small details and to understand how abstracting reality can completely change the emotion of an image. 🚨 BIG NEWS FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT: - šŸ† Win a 1-on-1 Call: As promised, we are stepping up the game. We will have a Community Vote during our Live Call to choose the winner. The prize? A personal 1-on-1 call with me to review your portfolio, talk about business, or do a deep-dive edit of your work! (Please don't let me forget to do the vote in the next assignment call!) - šŸŽ™ļø Special Guest Speaker: I’m incredibly excited to announce that we will have a Guest Speaker joining us for the live review call on June 14th!! She will bring a fresh, professional perspective to our critique and share her own insights. This will be super cool! šŸ“ How to participate: - Go out and shoot/edit your close-up image. - Create a New Post inside the "Assignments" category. - Title Format: Please use Assignment #12: [Your Title] - Number of pictures: 1 photo - Details: Include a short "Gallery Statement" – tell us briefly about your intent, the emotion, or the "Why" behind the image. - If you can't make it to the live call, just leave your specific questions in your post and we will cover them in the recording!
