I think I should go after the problem of burnout and talk about how lack of agency within the system is a major contributor to burnout, I just don't know how that translates to hospital admins hiring me to speak to healthcare professionals..thats where im stuck. It is something I've experienced (sense of powerlessness, misalignment, wanting to change the design of the system, burnout) and something I could talk about for years. But why would they hire me to talk about how frontline staff needs to have a say in healthcare system design (not just work flows) if the admins are the ones who hold the levers and would never willingly give up control? I keep getting stumped at who id be hired by and how my message would fit their agenda. The other problem ive been noodling on is humanizing the system and what true person-centered care looks like which also solves the problem of burnout-when we connect to patients burnout rates come down. But theres only so much that can be done by individual providers in a system that doesn't support human connection.
