When in front of your audience...
Treat silence like uninvited, not uninterested. Quiet doesn’t mean they're not engaged. It usually means they’re waiting for permission. Your job is to start the game, start playing with them and not expect your audience to join in on their own. They need your guidance.

@Natalie Duncan While I have not given any presentation to virtual audiences, I have had a chance to be an audience in few. I think there are two types of virtual presentations. Where it’s a meeting style. ‘All high profile “ Where you have presenter and audience, I am assuming you are talking about the second one., in this case I suggest you do it with a co host. That will keep the dialogue going , eventually getting the audience engaged. Does that make sense.
