Show Us Where You Started!
Drop a photo in the comments of one of your first or earliest wire-wrapped pieces. This was not my very first wire wrap, but one of my earliest documented iterations of the basket weave. Every wire artist has those early pieces. If you've been wrapping for a while, share an early piece alongside something you've made recently so we can see your evolution! And if you're brand new and just made your first piece? SHOW. IT. OFF. 🎉 No judgment. No comparing skill levels. Just artists celebrating how far we've come — and where we're headed next.

New Tutorial Available
Hey CraftyFingas fam! We just dropped a brand new tutorial that's been a long time coming: Introduction to Polishing Wire (~37 minutes, real time footage). You can find the tutorial in the Free Classes section, under the Free Tutorials module. We will be making an entire course on Polishing in the future, but this particular tutorial will permanently remain in the Free Classes course. The Introduction to Polishing Wire tutorial breaks down the mechanics behind polishing wire. If you've ever finished a piece only to find those annoying nicks, dings, and scars staring back at you, this tutorial will give you the basic understanding of how to get rid of them. We're breaking down exactly how to use radial bristle discs and a rotary tool (Dremel or similar) to take your wire from banged-up to a true mirror shine, grit by grit, step by step. What you'll learn: - The right grit order (and why skipping steps backfires) - How to remove kniks, dings, and deep scars from your wire - The technique for that professional mirror polish - Safety setup so you're protected while you work This is foundational stuff, the kind of skill that levels up every piece you make from here on out. Go check it out and let us know what you think 🙏❤️ More in-depth polishing tutorials coming soon (polishing pieces with stones + fine wire techniques), so stay tuned. Brian & Fiercely

@Yvonne Burton it depends on if you want to prevent the metal from tarnishing. If you want to protect the shine, sealing it will make the shine last longer, but will still wear out eventually. We use Protectaclear to make the shine last longer after polishing. If you want it to oxidize or tarnish so that the metal darkens we suggest not sealing the metal.
Week 3 Challenge
So here is my submission for this week's challenge. This seat glass pendant has 10 wires total. 3 x 20g base square copper wire. 3x 22g half round copper wire 4x 32g round copper wire for the attachments. Last week I posted a pendant that I made that I was unsure what to do with the arms when I had so many. I sat and did a bunch of research, watched a bunch of videos and realized that you can play with the arms for decoration. So instead of just wrapping them around the bail or cutting them off, these guys were curved and spiraled and then tied down with 32 gauge wire. This pendant design is inspired by the Luna pendant design by Nadja Shields.

@Jon Avalt 😲😲😲😲 yesssss!!!!!! Love seeing that initiative!!!
Hello
Hey there! I started wire wrapping 3 years ago when my son left home for college. It was the first “hobby” that I truly fell in love with in my life. Working with wire calms my brain and soothes my anxiety. I wish I found this years ago. I am self taught from following tutorials and a few books. I am hoping this academy will help me find my signature style because sometimes ii feel like I am all over the place. Here is a picture of one of my favorite pieces and a picture of my workspace ( a very rare shot where it’s kinda orderly lol)

Hi Melissa, Welcome! We are so happy you are here! We definitely understand hiw wire wrapping calms your brain, it does the same to us! Sometimes being all over the place is great when it comes to art because you get to try a bunch of different things and see what works for you or what doesnt. I hope our knowledge here can help you in pursuit of your signature style!

For the coffee time challenge I went with a simple cage wrap as I wasnt gonna run coils and weaves with limited amount of time .. took me about 40 mins as I did it in several 5-7 minutes segments.... Larimar wrapped in copper, extra swirly.. Not sure uf there was a thread to post these to or not, i didnt see one

Ooo I love the swirlies! Beautiful job! And great use of determining what would be the best course of action for the time limit!
