VOCALS: Use Subtle Parallel Compression for Energy and Consistency Duplicate your vocal track and apply heavy compression (a fast attack and release, with 8:1 or higher ratio) to the duplicate. Blend this heavily compressed version with the original vocal track at a low level. This keeps the dynamics of the original performance intact while adding consistent energy and presence to the vocals, making them stand out in the mix without sounding over-compressed. I wrote this in 2019. But I just now re recorded it and got it mixed. This version ain't released but it's done now and I just need feedback on it before I know if I should release it to streaming platforms. I did it one take. I'm trying to get better at the quality of my mixes. Any tips or constructive feedback will go a long way.
