[MUST-READ] I had a call with Meta today!!! (FB/IG Reels Strategy Tips)
I just got off the phone with a Meta Media Expert to talk about Reels strategy. He broke down some great info on best practices for FB/IG Reels and how to make the algorithm work for you. Here's a few major takeaways: Posting Cadence - make sure you're posting at the same times and days. For example, if you post at 12pm on Tuesday, do that every week. Volume of Posting Reels - post the same amount of Reels each week. Don't go from posting 7 reels one week to posting 2 reels the next week. Post the same amount consistently. Use the Editing Tools - when posting your reel, use one of the tools like adding text, emojis, polls, etc. The algorithm favors this. Hashtags - stay between 3-10 hashtags and stay away from broad hashtags. There's a lot more info but I don't want to overwhelm yall. Hit me on IG if you want more context on these topics. @bunduke_ (https://www.instagram.com/bunduke_ )

Welcome!
Radio or playlist
In this music era what do you think is more important. Radio or playlist?

like @Janée Carter it depends on what your focus and it also depends on the type of song that you are marketing and your goals. In my case, I know for the type of song I'm going to promote, my best route isn't necessarily play-listing, or radio (it depends on the stations). It looks like for me sync licensing and singing it live (online and in person at different open mics/ shows) would fit the song more than playlisting and maybe radio. With every song, it's a little different.

For me its been tiktok.
Popularity Vs. Talent
I found a short reel of a Nicki Minaj interview with Elliot where she expounded on how much the industry has drastically changed over the course of her career. She stated that record labels are opting to sign popular acts over the most talented ones. I thought about it 🤔... and it makes perfect sense because if that talent doesn't have a following, it can't be profitable to the labels. Back in the g, labels would shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars on an artist's development. Nowadays, they seem to prefer for the talent to come already developed with a nice following attached to it. I know this is probably common sense to y'all, but I still find this to be an interesting bit of info Link to vid below: https://youtu.be/ch1mLeidnFI

It makes sense they sign popular artists more though because the artist is selling more than just the music. Even talented artists back in the day were selling more than just the music. Most of these companies are and have always been in the business of selling technology/electronics. Because the barrier of entry is low, they expect more than just talent to be sold. A lot of talent shows have proven that having talent alone is not enough. Its never fully been, to begin with. People have to buy into you and what you are selling. Personally I feel that short-term, popularity helps get you in the door, however, longterm, you need a mixture of both.
