Question: Plastic shopping bags are used widely and cause many environmental problems. Some people say they should be banned. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Response: Plastic shopping bags have become an essential part of modern life due to their convenience and low cost. However, their widespread use has led to serious environmental problems. I strongly agree that plastic shopping bags should be banned because of their long-term damage to ecosystems and the availability of more sustainable alternatives. One major reason for banning plastic bags is their harmful impact on the environment. Plastic is non-biodegradable and can take hundreds of years to decompose. As a result, discarded bags often accumulate in landfills, rivers, and oceans. Marine animals frequently mistake plastic bags for food, which can lead to injury or death. Furthermore, the production of plastic bags requires fossil fuels, contributing to carbon emissions and climate change. Given these severe environmental consequences, continuing to allow their unrestricted use seems irresponsible. Another important consideration is that practical alternatives are readily available. Particularly, reusable cloth or paper bags are more environmentally friendly and can be used multiple times, reducing overall waste. Although some argue that banning plastic bags may inconvenience consumers or increase costs for businesses, such challenges are minor compared to the environmental benefits. In fact, several countries that have introduced bans or taxes on plastic bags have successfully reduced plastic waste without significant economic disruption. In conclusion, due to the serious environmental damage caused by plastic shopping bags and the existence of sustainable substitutes, I strongly believe they should be banned. Taking decisive action against single-use plastics is an important step toward protecting the environment for future generations. =============================================================================

GRAMMAR
Grammar is very important in IELTS Writing Task 2. To get a high grammar score (Band 7–8+), you need both accuracy and variety. These are the factors you must consider: 1. Reduce Basic Mistakes (Accuracy First) Examiners look for: - Correct subject–verb agreement - Correct articles (a, an, the) - Correct prepositions - Fewer spelling mistakes For example: ❌ The government should provide more support for citizen. ✅ The government should provide more support for citizens. NOTE!!! Even small mistakes can lower your score if they happen often. 2.Use a Variety of Sentence Structures To get Band 7+, you must show complex sentences, not only simple ones. Use: - Complex sentences - Relative clauses - Conditional sentences - Passive voice But remember: accuracy is more important than difficulty. 3.Avoid Overcomplicating Many students try to write very long sentences and make many grammatical mistakes. ❌ Very long and confusing sentence ✅ Clear and controlled complex sentence Clarity helps you get a better score. 4.Use Advanced Grammar Carefully To reach Band 7+, you can sometimes use: - Inversion: Not only does this policy reduce costs, but it also improves efficiency. - Participle clauses: By investing in public transport, the government can reduce traffic congestion. NOTE!!! Use these only if you are confident.
