Fun New Category
During our last coffee hour, we decided to make a new category for this community to share information about Textile Tours and other resources. I'll start by sharing about my most recent textile trips in Oaxaca Mexico. I went to Oaxaca the first time on a textile tour with Ace Camps Travel. My second trip was a tour called "Woven Lives" and was organized by Textile artist Carolyn Kallenborn and tour leader extraordinaire Ana Paula Fuentes. Then I returned for a one month artist residency at Carolyn's home studio Flor Y Piedra in Oaxaca. My 4th trip to Oaxaca was last August, to go foraging for mushrooms in the Sierra Norte mountains and learn how to dye textiles with them. That was organized by Kim (Traveling Trader's Bazaar) and Zach (The Fungivore), and we also had mushroom dyeing expert Alissa Allen, founder of Mycopigments. Here are the links: https://acecampstravel.com/ https://linktr.ee/carolynkallenborn https://weavearealpeace.org/social-design/ https://www.travelingtradersbazaar.com/ https://thefungivore.com/index.html https://www.mycopigments.com/ I also want to make everyone aware of the Maiwa School of Textiles as in incredible resource. I've taken 3 of their online courses (which are incredibly well-done!), and I cannot recommend them highly enough. I am planning to develop my own online courses, and I will use Maiwa as my inspiration. https://www.schooloftextiles.com/ ...and you must see their online store: https://maiwa.com/ If you know of any other textile tours, or great resources, please share them in this thread!

Here’s another tour I spied that’s taking place in Spain this year. It’s textiles, costume meets culture & religion. It really looks incredible! https://threadwritten.com/spain

@Jane Harbison Oh thank you Jane! Honestly, I'm still an amateur at free motion, but I love it! It's such a wonderful art form. There are ladies and a few gents in places like the Phillipines and Eastern Europe that are masters at this work and I drool every time I watch their videos!
