Hi everyone! I'm Antonio, a multimedia author and teacher in Florence, Italy. I’d like to share my real-world case study that I’ll be working on during the Foundations program to build my note-taking system. 1. The Project and Goal (Within 1 Month) I’m working on a project called Florence New Vintage (FNV), which focuses on the history and mapping of the Florentine New Wave in the 80s. My concrete goal for the next 4 weeks is to design and test a note structure/template capable of hosting and organizing information across three main pillars: - Events (key concerts, festivals, exhibitions, nights out); - People (musicians, artists, promoters, key figures); - Places (clubs, historic venues, recording studios, cultural spaces). 2. The Information Challenge I’ve already collected a significant amount of material, but it presents a few specific challenges: - Heterogeneity: The sources are extremely varied (newspaper articles, interviews, audio notes, book excerpts, visual/oral accounts). - Need for Verification: Since this is a historical and cultural reconstruction, much of the information requires cross-referencing, fact-checking, and continuous refinement. - Strong Interconnectedness: The three pillars are deeply linked (a place hosts an event promoted by a person, with constant overlapping connections). 3. What I’m Looking to Get Out of Foundations In line with the course’s approach, I want to avoid building an over-complicated system prematurely. I aim to develop a Minimum Viable System (MVS) starting from a "vanilla" setup that allows me to: 1. Capture and process fragmented and diverse sources effectively; 2. Manage source verification within the notes without losing track of data; 3. Map natural connections between Events, People, and Places without cluttering the structure with unnecessary tags or plugins.
