The process is known as solvent/image transfer. This technique was pioneered by Robert Rauschenberg during the 1950s studying at Black Mountain College, NC under Josef Albers and later at the Art Students League in New York City. I first discovered this process while studying at art college in the UK, after encountering Rauschenberg's solvent and image transfer artworks in an art gallery in Paris in 1987.

Hello, My name is Anthony James Coffey and I am an artist based in New York City and in Western NC. My style is mostly pop art and I make pop art image transfers inspired by the solvent and image transfers first pioneered by Robert Rauschenberg in the 1950s. Attached below are samples of my image transfers on Watercolor paper, 22"x30." Very inspired by Corbellic Studio and looking forward to getting an eBay store and selling my art!
