Design Principles Applied
This was something on my to do list for ages but just kept pushing it to the side. After Alex's chat around design principles the other week I spent the next day putting everything he discussed together to create my own brand guidelines and apply them to my Instagram and website, so everything looks way more cohesive now. I know I don't always post or get to attend every catch up but I promise I am learning from them and applying things :)
Ep 19 Design Principles 101 with Alex Sartor
This week’s deep dive was about making your brand come together with cohesive design and visual messaging. Led by none other than my brother and elite designer, Alex Sartor. I learnt a SHIT TONNE He broke down the essentials of visual identity: → Logos that scale and simplify → Colours that communicate emotion and intent → Typography that supports your brand tone → Layout and spacing that make your message actually readable → Brand assets that go beyond your logo → And how it all connects to the actual brand — the one people hold in their hearts and minds. We also showed off some early spreads from the upcoming photo book we’re building together, and how intentional design takes great work and makes it look FKING INSANE 😍. All the tools, links, and resources mentioned are in the Classroom section go check it out. If your Brand isn't looking the way you want but you can quite put your finger on it, or you are having someone do your graphic design and want to be able to articulate your vision to them properly, this is a must watch. I forgot to share it but literally the next day I took everything from this and made my own brand guidelines which has been super helpful. Especially all the little details that I didn't think about like the layout of text in paragraphs. Loved this episode, learned so much!
What Day of the Week Should We Meet? Poll
Putting it out there to the community to vote which afternoon of the week works best for you's. I picked Thursday as an arbitrary 'no one does anything on a Thursday night 😅'. I have no data to support this and im not married Thursday, so what works best for everyone? I would still like to keep it at 6pm Brisbane time.

honestly fine with any day ✌️I've been slack whilst traveling though (sorry!)
Back to basics
At the end of this weeks round table chat, we were talking about the percentage of leads/business generated from your content. Recently I’d made a reel which probably had the lowest engagement I’ve had in a while but without meaning to, I’d gone and done the very first thing I remember Luke talking about in these catch ups, which was ‘addressing a pain point’. In this case it was ‘what to do with old jewellery you no longer wear’. I may not have gotten as many views/comments, but that reel got me more customers than anything else I’ve done. Goes to show, the system works 😅👌🏽
