Ask Marsha - What Should I Be Doing for Family Member with Severe Mental Decline?
UPDATE: For whatever reason, if you try to click on the black and white image it tells you the video isn't available. So, please click the blue link...it should then work just fine. Don't know why this is happening but -- we love technology! LOL https://youtu.be/FYbBc4Lhx1Q?views Finally, here is my first "Ask Marsha" segment. It was going to be a long written response so I decided to record a video of my response. These are some basic strategies and tips on how to offer care and support to a loved one who is experiencing mental decline and memory loss. This is always one of the toughest situations to be in as a family. Hope you find this helpful. Leave any comments, insights, questions in the community as there is so much more that can be provided on this topic. Here is the link to my response: https://youtu.be/FYbBc4Lhx1Q?views

Ask Marsha - Do you have a question?
Hi all! As promised, I want to make sure throughout this year, once a week, I am answering any questions you might have about being a family caregiver. It can be about anything that is on your mind, that you have been dealing with (or preparing to deal with) -- you name it, you can ask it. Post your question here and I will answer it this coming weekend. Who's got a question? And, remember, there are no 'dumb' questions -- nope, none at all.

If our parents don't have a "TRUST", should I consider having them do this to put their assets into, so when they pass, it's a smoother process dealing with their assets? And I guess the same question for me so my son doesn't have a big headache when I pass in 40 years!
Welcome our newest member - Franklin Hernandez
Let's say "hi" to our newest member - @Franklin Hernandez If you’re caring for an aging parent or loved one—and feeling unsure what to do or where to turn—you’re in the right place. The Family Care Compass exists to be a place where: > you can share common experiences, > learn what steps to take, > navigate care decisions with confidence, > find those surprising and unique tips, and > to make sure you have a chance to laugh and relax in a supportive environment. You don’t need to have all the answers. You don’t even need to know the right questions yet. This community is here to help you find your direction—one step at a time. While we all share many things in common as we care for our older loved ones, each situation is unique and deserves special attention. So, to get started, please share a bit about you -- 🌎Where is your favorite vacation spot? 🍿What is your favorite movie? 😎What is your favorite emoji? Again, welcome!! Looking forward to sharing ideas, experiences and thoughts with you!

Check out the new Caregiver Library in the Classroom
Hi all. One of my goals has been to provide you with resources on a wide range of topics related to family caregiving. Well, the library is open!! Go to "Classroom" in the top menu of our community; click there. You will find the beginnings of what I hope will become a valuable and growing collection of books, reference materials, and resources that you can 'check out' at your own pace based on your current concerns or needs. I always caution folks that books are great, but very non-specific to your unique situation. The information can be a great framework for basic understanding, but it can be difficult to figure out how to apply it to your situation. And, there is so much information out there that it can quickly become overwhelming and confusing. And, that is why this community exists!! Here's the place to ask questions on what you read and get clarifications on how the materials applies to your family. Here's to good reading!
