Christmas arrived!
Christmas arrived and there’s a bit of a theme. Who else has gone for an early Xmas decoration day this year??

I love it!!! I am a mix of loving Halloween and loving Christmas. I swear! If I had more room....LOOK OUT! LOLOL I usually take photos like you to share. This year, something has just drained me, so I love looking at your photos. Thanks for sharing them. Here are some photos from years ago though. The last few are not at my studio, etc. but at my parents house. Sadly, they don't decorate, etc. like that anymore. The last three are just memories. Still, I thought that I'd share. Happy Holidays.

@Kristel Mallet You should do whatever makes you happy!!! I'm sure Katie feels the same. I'm a huge Christmas nut, so I usually decorate WAY more!!! I just haven't this year for some reason. Can we see when you do decorate? I love decorations.
I’ve remembered why I love painting bigger.
There’s something so freeing about starting with a loose, drippy layer of spray paint and watching the colours run. Then the drawing settles on top, and the whole thing begins to take shape. It’s actually quite a while before I even touch a brush. I’m about to begin the final oil layer now, and this is the moment where it really starts to glow. My favourite part of the painting is the first layers. Which part of your painting process do you love the most??

That seems like an easy thing to answer but to me it's not. When I first began to paint, I felt more like you. That's actually why I decided to stick to Abstract art. It's freeing to me. Over time, I began to see meanings in my works though and that was really interesting to me. Even if some meanings were small, they were still meanings. I only created to create as a form of therapy after surgery. I'd continue to do so after a seizure, etc. as a way to cope. Some may think that's rather odd but we all have things to deal with in life and we all have dreams. Everyone doesn't have to have a life saving surgery or Epilepsy to have things that they have to deal with in life. I like looking at and figuring out the meaning behind other artists works as well. Creating is a way that we express our dreams. Like many artists though, I usually didn't have a deeper meaning in mind when I created, so where did a deeper meaning come from? Where do our dreams come from?! Today, I actually have more ideas in mind when I create some of my works but the parts that I find most comforting, etc. when it comes to my work today; is when I have figured out a meaning. When I finally get to let that painting, etc. go and move on. I find it beautiful that creating art of all kinds is often a way the unknown helps us to deal with life or to move on. Some may not see it that way but I do...Example: Multiple movies, musicals, songs, etc. are all made for different reasons. The directors, etc. have to have the ability to think clearly enough to put them all together but what power lay beyond that? What power helps guide directors, musicians, painters, sculptors, writers, etc. that we do not see? That even they do not know is there? Many movies, etc. were not created for some deeper meaning, yet many ended up touching others due to a deeper meaning. What if not the unknown is behind that? We never create just to create, we just think we do. I love figuring out those deeper meanings. I've written a book. I hope that's ok? Your post just made me think. 😍
Computer editing!
Today I spent some time putting together my new collection of hearts into a print design. I’m loving all the colours and the glow. An added bonus having painted 12 hearts!

They look great Katie!!!
Painting progress
This week I’ve been painting gem stones. It’s not often I only use oil paint, but the depth is incredible and the paint flows so well on the canvas. I usually start in acrylic, but I felt these needed a different technique. Oh plus I’m adding gold leaf!! What creative project have you been working on??

Oh, those are lovely Katie!! I'd use oils if they didn't bother my allergies so much. The colours are soo vibrant! I love them. Stunning!!! I've been working on a old sketch that I turned into a digital work. I'll share it here but I've also gotten back on smoothies, so have been making those...etc. I made a digital work celebrating this being trans awareness week and I've also started a mixed media work. I have no idea where it will go but the fun is to find out. What can I say? I like staying busy.
Chasing rainbows
I chased this rainbow for nearly two hours. Such a sight. At one point I drove through the end of the rainbow. No pots of gold anywhere to be seen, but lots of joy.

@Katie Jarman I'm glad that I can look at them. They're beautiful. I'm having an allergic reaction to the resin I used on my tub. My head really hurts. It's awful! I'm hoping that I can still use my tub and it only gave me an allergic reaction because the resin was wet. I'm NEVER using that again to create with though...I can tell you that. These photos are beautiful. They make me smile.

@Katie Jarman We live and learn I suppose. I'm just going to toss it. It's not good for my allergies. It's ALOT of work down the drain but if I've learned anything in the years I've worked in the visual arts it's that we learn from our mistakes. I should have used the same things used in showers.
