Who wants it??
OK, firstly I am not calling any of you out for a fight.... It is not that kind of who wants it! What I am asking you to do is ask yourself 1 question..... when it comes to training a behaviour.... Who wants it? So often I get a message, or a phone call from a customer who starts the conversation "I want" Now whether that is followed by recall, loose lead walking, crate training etc etc, it always starts "I want" So, flip the question on its head for me you lovely people..... "What does your DOG want"

Mack: To cause mayhem wherever he goes 🤣 Meg: Stop people from walking in random directions and making any noise!
Does your dog like the vets?
Most of you will know Teaser (AKA the wally, the idiot, the most annoying frustrating dog in the world at times) loves finding ways to go to the vets! He genuinely cannot wait to go inside as soon as we arrive. Here is a video of him yesterday when we had a pain medication review; The sequence: Name called Given his lead Off he pops to his favourite vet

Mack LOVES the vets, hugs all round. Meg's not so keen and is seen in the car park, where she has plenty of space!
Grot Leads! - WRONG WRONG & WRONG
Morning everyone, So this is a bit of a longer video than I usually do, but it's something that massively divides the dog training world, and something I am passionate about shouting about. It follows on from a conversation with a new customer yesterday about their training needs for their 2 year old dog. It is a bit of a controversial topic in the dog world, and it is a bit heavy for a Friday morning, so apologies for that element, but what I won't do is sit back and allow dogs to be treated in this way without shouting about the importance of science based evidence when it comes to training. Hope you enjoy.

Unfortunately there now seems to be more 'balanced' trainers than positive force free ones (and many dog walkers using these types of lead). The fact anyone can call themselves a dog trainer without any training is very worrying. Social media also bombards you with the posts if you watch one of the videos which doesn't help, people just see the quick fix.
What are your plans today with your dog?
Today is a different day here for us, we have our boy in for some minor surgery, he has somehow managed to get a skin tag between his paw pads..... literally only him!!! Our little girl will be enjoying a girls day at home, I'm working between vet visits etc What does your day look like?

Hope the surgery goes well. It's mainly been enrichment and a very muddy walk and Mack has been calmer the last few days. Mack is 'working' with me in the office and Meg's having some peace and quiet indoors!
Changes in winter
Morning SKOOLERS Today I wanted to touch upon the changes our dogs can experience during winter. I know we've touched a little on this, but like dog training, sometimes little repetitions of messages can help as a gentle reminder of how to advocate for your dogs. - So, anything less than 5° - pop a coat on your dog - Dogs will burn more calories during the winter trying to stay warm, make sure they get some extra nutritional chews - Gut biome can change during winter months, adding a probiotic is a great idea to help your dogs gut health - Your dogs coat can look and feel more dry and harsh to the touch, this is due to cold wet and damp weather outside, and dry heat indoors, using extra oily fish in diets is a great way to maintain soft, colourful coats. What are your top tips for winter with your dog?

Meg refuses to wear a coat, I keep putting it on but she will keep getting it off and then find a huge puddle and dump the coat in it, leaving me to wade in and retrieve it 😂 - she will keep trying until she gets it off, have tried several different ones. Mack won't let me near him with a coat (we have a truce with the harness), one of the many things still to work on 😭. They are both double coated from working lines, so 🤞they are ok not wearing them and I'm careful when it's cold and walk at 11am when it's hopefully at its warmest part of the day.
