When did one bad moment make YOU forget the 99 good ones?
A long, clean streak can distort risk. One bad outcome gets more weight than the many that went fine. The base rate stays the same. If you already possess a stack of evidence about something, or undeniable proof (as Hormozi would say), you have enough data points to outweigh the "what ifs". Portable Life sees this all the time: - One missed flight vs dozens that connected - One sketchy stay vs years of solid homes - One slow Wi-Fi day vs months of stable work - One lost bag vs a long run of clean arrivals Keep perspective with simple moves: - State the base rate: out of 100, how many went fine? - Name the expected costs: delays, fees, scrapes - Improve the process, not the identity: add guardrails and continue - Track outcomes: count wins and issues, not moods - Add one safeguard: backups for power, data, routes, or stays What past scare made YOU overestimate the risk, and what guardrail did YOU keep?

I did the maths and some research (aye, I actually did): That’s a 0.21% fall rate. One in 475 rides. To put that in perspective… - You’ve got the same odds as flipping nine heads in a row (1 in 512, 0.195%). - You’re just as likely to catch a home run ball at a Yankees game (1 in 500, 0.2%). - You’re three times more likely to fall than to be born on a leap year (1 in 1,461, 0.068%). - And you’re 30 times more likely to take a tumble than to be struck by lightning in your lifetime (1 in 15,000, 0.0067%). So aye, you hit the deck. But statistically speaking…your still 474 rides away from calling it a pattern.
What did you 🛑stop🛑 doing that saved you hours each week?
Early on, we wear every hat. Then we choose what to keep and what to delegate. Happens in business as much as in personal life. Hanging on to the notion that “no one does it better” can trap us in familiar tasks. Not knowing how we’d use the extra hours can lead to the status quo. Often, taking a small, courageous step to delegate, automate, or delete reveals the next move. Small reductions stack into weekly hours gained. What was the last thing you removed, outsourced, or handed off?

Hired a Handyman and and Admin Assistant to help take things off my plate. Another thing I travelled which meant I had to find solutions to local problems.

Where is Home?
Home can mean so many different things. We’d likely assume home is where we were born - either the country or city. But home can be a physical space like a home or a rented apartment. It can be a State/City or a region where you grew up. It can also be a person or a community that gives you that feeling. It’s possible home remains one thing for the your entire life but it’s also possible that it’s changed over time, as you grow and as you travel. When someone asks you where is home - what do you answer? And if you’d answer it and it didn’t resonate anymore - where else could home be?

I am from Scotland and I am proud to be from Scotland but I dont class that as my home. I live in Austin, TX now, but I also class that as my home. I guess where ever my kids and wife are is home.
Show us one piece of your current Portable Life
Inspired by new member @Justin Kreger None of us have a perfect life, what we all have is the life that works for us right now. You may want to make it more portable or tweak it so that it reflects more of you and what you want for your life. It all takes time and it can be easy to look at others life with envy, but know that everyone that has what they have has worked to make it happen. Some move faster then others and that is ok. Show us a piece of your portable life however small it may feel. We all started with one step and your step may be what another member need to see/hear today to take theirs.

I would say that my life is some what portable. Ive built a business where I can run it from anywhere. I do have kids, but I chose to be here for the school that we have chosen for them, but it wouldn't stop me from going somewhere else in the world if I decided that was what we wanted to do. I want to continue to travel with my wife and kids. Since I left my 9-5, I've spent the last 3 summers on vacation with my family traveling and living in other countries, letting them also have the experience of travel and food and culture.
