Need Advice
I’ve restored 5 sets of headlights so far. The first pair came out perfect, but all the other ones I got clear but left faint scratch marks. I’ve been using the old Stay Clear method: Liquid magic- 1-2-3k- wipe on clear coat. I generally sand in only one direction because I think that’s what Andrew Tucker does. Anyone got advice for me? Is it even avoidable? If you look closely you can see the scratch marks in the picture.

@Nathan Aydelotte thanks man. I’ll try to be mindful of the pressure I’m using. I guess less is more as long as I’m removing the damaged layer. Thats probably why I was successful in my first restoration. Congrats on the kit btw.

@Nathan Aydelotte also do you sand in only one direction or do you cross hatch sand?
What brought you here?
I’m just getting started and am trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible. Just want to know from everyone out there what was the one thing that made you decide head light restoration was what you wanted to do? How long have you been doing it ? And if you like the way things are going? Would love to get as much feedback back as possible. Thanks for taking the time and dropping some info .

Hey man, I’m 16 and have been working at my dad’s Marcos pizza franchise since I was 12. I honestly have grown to love it, but I need a way to make more money in less time, and not be stuck on a schedule. This past fall I started seeing Andrew Tuckers instagram reels and I noticed both of my sisters cars had yellow and foggy headlights. I saw headlight restoration as my opportunity to be able to spend less time at work and more time working towards my goals. I figured I could do my family’s lights as a Christmas present and hopefully make it into a source of income eventually. So far I’ve done 3 of my family’s cars and have had one customer. I wish I’ve done more but I’ve been really short on time. I’m hoping to really start my business soon, but I’ve had to focus on school, work, sports, service, and my other goals.
